Pansh genesis setup advice
Hey guys, bought a 6m pansh genesis, it's my first 5 line kite, I've flown their blaze 2 and it's sweet (so I got lucky apparently as they can be hit
and miss) but it's a little big so went smaller with this one.
But I can't figure out for the life of me how to set up the bar! I bought the whole package but I've never used a leash and when I got it the leash
was attached to a split line but I would have thought that attaches to the power lines and the leash attaches to the central line. Is that right? And
how do I connect the power lines to the handle?
Some pictures would really help as the diagram with the kite isn't helping me!
Thanks!

This is a real confusing line plan I agree! http://www.panshkite.com/syssite/home/shop/1/pictures/newsim...
It looks to me as though your power lines should connect to your trim strap. Back lines to the bar. The 5th should run below the bar ( 5m line
attached to 20m line ). It should have a ring or something to attach your leash?
Pansh is now ripping off the re-ride system but I don't think that is what this kite has?
I thought that Pansh sells their complete package RTF?
Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.

I don't think they are exactly rtf. Here is a link to xk where they have been discussing the a15. http://www.extremekites.com.au/topic/15965-my-pansh-aurora-1...
It may be a totally different configuration but there are a few more avid pansh users on there that will probably be able to help.
It's been said before, but pansh seems like a decent kite for the experienced flier willing to put a fair amount of time with tinkering. Newer people
beware.

Yeah it's not rtf, the lines and bar and kite and leash were all separate. That link to the aurora has a few photos, it looks like the same set up as
the Genesis so I'll have a go in a bit. Thanks for your time guys! I'll let you know how I get on at the weekend.

I'm in the same spot i.e., just got a new Pansh Genesis 6m "rtf".
My impression it is not truly rrf, rather all the parts are there but
the bar has parts for 4 and 5 line depowers.
I've adjusted it so it resembles other more popular
5 line depower setups but waiting to SOBB to
get others to check it before first flight.
I will be at SOBB Tuesday on and hope for some
input from other depower fliers. Also available if
anyone wants to try it out.
What instructions??
Always on the steep part of the learning curve.

More info on the Pansh Genesis depower dilemma:
The bar shipped with what I'd call 6 lines:
2 to bar ends
2 power lines connected to one big grey through center bar to chicken loop.
2 more oddly connected through center bar to separate rings.
one red, one grey. I could not make sense of this extra connection to power lines
Like shown in :
http://www.extremekites.com.au/topic/15965-my-pansh-aurora-1...
My approach:
I removed one center lightweight "extra" line to power and made the setup
with the remaining center light line connected to 5th line safety
so it resembles what is shown on their site:
http://www.panshkite.com/index.php?gOo=goodspic.dwt&good...
Simpler and makes sense to me.
Still waiting to fly it next week at SOBB.
Always on the steep part of the learning curve.

looking at that diagram you are looking at half the kite with one front power line (from centre of bar - probably splits above trim strap) connects to
main upper bridle (at AXY).
Line on outside of bar connects to lower bridle line attachment (at YZ)
The lines between these two points are showing your pulleys and lines connecting the upper and lower bridle.
it then shows a 5 th line that looks like it passes through the centre of the bar like a PL navigator or magnet bar? and then the safety flying line
attached to that and then to an attachment point that connects to the centre of the kite that would fold it in half when you go to safety. your leash
might attach to the end of the 5th line so when you unhook from the loop and release the bar the kite folds.

I've got it laid out on the table and comparing it to
reride 5th line connections (in Access manual)
Difference:
Reride has a stopper on the 5th line to limit bar travel on release
to about 2 m.
Pansh does not have stopper on 5th line.
Instead, it looks like Pansh added an additional line
running from the triple ring front line junction above the bar,
then down through the center of the bar through the chicken loop guide
to another ring in addition to the 5th line connection and ring.
It appears that this additional line limits travel of the
released bar just to extent that the bar will not travel
past the knots that connect to the 5th line (about 1.5m).
Result is there are 2 small rings at the chicken loop that
I THINK both should be connected to the leash.
One goes to 5th line safety (small grey),
the other goes to line that limits released bar travel (small red).
End result would be the same as a simple stopper on the fifth line but
Pansh adds and extra line in the rigging and some confusion
about how to properly connect to the safety leash because
there are NO instructions provided.
If the kite flies as well as some reviews that I have read, this
hassle will be worth the effort because it was so inexpensive (50% off)
AND in the end I will be very familiar with the setup . . .
If not, it will be a relatively inexpensive trial.
Always on the steep part of the learning curve.

Please Do!
Maybe post when she DOESN'T reply as well. I would be interested if you here from her.
In my experience Rosie answers questions fast when you are shopping. Once you have purchased and ask technical questions I have found myself shut out?
Search Flysurfer's FDS 5th line hook up. I think they do the same with the Genisis. My Aurora was that way. The reride system is different. It sounds
like you may be correct about an extra line that could be = to the stopper on FDS. Or possibly the bar they have is sent to work on their reride
system and or FDS? Grey line for reride, red for FDS?
This picture only shows the red safety and ring to hook to? http://www.panshkite.com/index.php?gOo=goodspic.dwt&good...
Exactly what I would have expected. Are you saying that there are 3 lines going through your bar? The big trim line and a small red and grey one? The
2 small ones going in the one cinch clamp on the CL?

Yes, there are three lines passing through the bar center hole then
through the chicken loop cam cleat. That makes me nervous,
I'd think the 5th line safety should free run and not go through a cam cleat.
Maybe because this bar is re-purposed??
As ssayre pointed out the discussion at http://www.extremekites.com.au/topic/15965-my-pansh-aurora-1...
is very relevant. The Aurora bar set up that Agrirarte shows is the same as I received with my Genesis.
He posts good clear pics.
Rose was quick to responded when shopping but still have not heard back on this question.

I have several Depower bar setups. Some OEM some homemade. I'm not going to try to diagnose your setup via text. But I will be at SOBB all week and
would be happy to help you figure it out. I'm not an expert by any means but I have been a sailor most of my adult life and have many years experience
with Lines and tackle rigging. I'm sure we can figure it out. Plus there will be many others with much more kite experience then me. I have no doubt
that we will have you up and flying in no time!

I don't have this bar but per Joel's explanation and picture on xk, it looks fairly straight forward. I don't know anything about fifth line but I do
know I would be hooking up 4 lines and flying that puppy and sort out the leash and safety line on the fly. The kite only cares about 4 lines. Now go
fly that puppy. You don't need no leash to get acquainted :P

Blitzhound > Looking forward to SOBB we'll get this flying one way or another.
Ssayre > I agree that Joel's A15 explanation and photo are simple and straightforward.
This is how I plan to fly it.
HOWEVER in that reposted photo,
1) There is no stopper on the 5th line to limit released bar travel
AND
2) The "extra" Pansh line and leash ring have been removed (good idea).
They can be seen in other "as shipped" photos on that A15 thread.
I'll fly it like Joel's photo then perhaps add a stopper at connection of 5th line above bar.
The Pansh bar as shipped has too many lines and rings at the chicken loop.
Also agree that "I don't need no stinkin' 5th line" . . . just need wind.
Always on the steep part of the learning curve.
