Is it October yet?
Can't begin to explain how much I am looking forward to the next event! Missing my kite family and missing the hard pack! Come on October!
How many noobs will we have at WBB this fall? Really hoping to meet some more new faces! Come share the sand and fun with us!
Howard will chime in with the countdown I'm sure.

Go to the PKf home page, go down to events and click on the WBB link. Look for the Fall WBB dates and you will see the thread. I will add another post
in just a bit with hotel and camping information but most everyone stays at the hotel because the rates are not too much more then camping. No
registration except for joint NAPKA so that you may be covered under our insurance due to it being a NAPKA sanctioned event.

It's finally summer here in the Great White North, but fall isn't going to be here soon enough. Rich, I feel your pain.)
OffAxis, we're all noobs, it's just that some of us have been doing it for longer Welcome to the family.
Here's the post to the Fall 2616 dates:
http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=31611
Or:
October 11 - 16, 2016
Generally, most people arrive on the Thursday and leave on the Sunday morning.
There is usually someone there by Monday, and a couple that don't leave until Sunday evening.
The hotel we stay at is the Shalimar: http://www.shalimarresortnj.com
It's a "retro" style property; the rooms are clean, it's safe, and it's only a couple o' hundred feet from the beach. Parking is free (1 car per room)
and many of the units have kitchen facilities. (Ask when you book.)
Registration for NAPKA is painless, and if you're going to be in motion (buggy or board) it's important: http://www.napka.org
As Rich said, it's a sanctioned event, and (I believe) requirements for our permit include that we be identifiable and insured.
There are some great photos from the fall '15 bash here:
http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=31808
We're still waiting for Kober to post his drone videos (he shot some amazing footage).
And, in case you wondered...
only 129 days to go :wee:
Go ahead... tell me to "go fly a kite!" Please!

Thanks for the info. Looks like I need to find a board or build a buggy before then. And a helmet before I do something stupid.

Howard thanks so much for putting the info up, you know me, I have been volunteering since 6:30 am and just finished up. No rest for me lol. Actually

Look forward to meeting off axis trust me it's a blast you won't regret and won't be able to stop attending. I went the first time in 2009 and have
been ever since, and organizing for the last several years.

My pleasure Rich. Say hi to the home crew for me.
OA - You never really need a helmet - until you needed one.
It's not required if you're going to fly static, but once you're in motion, it's mandatory. But even at home in my little park, I won't sit in the
buggy without having a helmet on.
There are lots of people that come to Wildwood without a buggy or board on their first trip. Not many show up a second time without wheels If building your own is a thought, there are some real metal talents around here
that have all the info you'll need.
Go ahead... tell me to "go fly a kite!" Please!

PS even if the wind is t blowing we find many ways to amuse ourselves that still may require a helmet, solo wheeling, night time and daytime drone
flying, IPA sharing, Friday night video night, gas skateboards, I think you know where I'm going with this. We have a blast non stop so if you're
coming and you have grown up toys, bring them we all share in the fun!

Guess i can use my ATV helmet. Is there any difference between a kite trike vs. a kite buggy. Aronma send me info and price in a U2U. Hopefully
bringing my wife to WBB will get her interested in kiting with me.

The range seems to be from bicycle to motorcycle, with versions of ski, climbing and moto/bike-cross in there too. Any helmet is better than no
helmet.
I believe that the kite trike is an entry-level buggy - commonly compared to the PeterLynn Comp ST. (aronma/Mark is part of the family. Deal with
confidence.)
My wife joins me at WBB, but she isn't interested in flying anything other than her camera. (Fortunately, she takes pretty good pictures - and a lot
of them.) I think she just likes knowing that I'm behaving myself :o
BTW: Kober is the only one allowed to bring inflatable toys

hey offaxis
this will be my 24th season buggying.
i wouldn`t miss wildwood for all the tea in china.
i always bring a few toys to play with.
i like playing with my home made rc landsailers on the hotel deck
your more than welcome to try them.
i like decking out the deck with wind socks, flags and such on poles.
i mount a flag on the pole on the roof of the hotel that everybody use for a wind meter.
saturday night BBQ is the go to event to cap off a great week of buggying and reflecting of everything that went on.
i cant wait to be there to see my buggy family and buggy on the best beach in new jersey

Just to add insult to the injury of not being able to get any seat time, there's a new webcam at the Crest:
http://www.wildwoodunderground.com/wildwood-nj-live-cam/
Head to the right side of the page and click on the "Wildwood Crest" for a beach view from the Imperial 500 - just one block from the Shalimar.
There's nothing better than seeing a bunch of people suntanning on a beach that could otherwise be wasted for buggying!
And, just in case you think I'd forgotten (or, for those of you that care): 123 days to go!
Go ahead... tell me to "go fly a kite!" Please!

Just kidding. I get a little carried away with my enthusiasm about WBB. (I consider any buggying that I get to do at home as practice for Wildwood.)
Generally, I think that people start booking by the end of August, although I'm already booked (and I understand from the hotel that there are a
couple of others booked too, but I'm not sure who).
Rates are $145 for the first two nights, $65 for additional nights, taxes and exchange extra. The experience: Priceless.

On Thursday I had the afternoon off, so thought I'd take advantage of it.
Generally, I've been able to get out a kite and buggy for 45 minutes to an hour at least once a week since early June. My local park has some
kite-unfriendly issues (it's surrounded with trees), but I make the most of it, and I usually manage to get 5 or 6 miles in.
The wind was supposed to be 7 gusting to 10; should've been a calm easy session. Instead, what I got was 6 gusting to 15. It was so bad that my 7m
Lynx - usually super-stable - kept clapping, popping open, inverting, and falling - in no specific order
Well, at least it was better than being at work. I can't wait for some clean wind.
Only 80 days to go!
PS: Are there any PokeStops at Wildwood?
Go ahead... tell me to "go fly a kite!" Please!
