at last got a chance to fly genesis i ordered couple weeks ago.
arrived from china in 6 days. free shipping.
as has been noted elsewhere, no manual or setup instructions with it.
newbies will want help setting these up. build is nice, could not find any flaws.
bridals color coded somewhat. ripstop is light, slick and tough (i tested some of the strip they bound the kite with for shipping)
lines are nice, not HQ nice but not bad. all sets were of same length.
bar is same as my HQ kites. unlike HQ, it came with nice safety leash. chicken loop is ok, but has pull toward rider for release, which is wrong IMO.
it worked fine when tested, but i like push to release better. the ceter flag out is nice as kite does not spin. (i think the low testing winds may
have helped.) set it up hung by bridals to check shape out inflated it with shop vac. i call her "stay-puft marshmallow kite" cause of strange
profile. holds air well. packing requires putting a tube into the magnetic blow out valve to expel trapped air in center, as the zips are near the
tips.
first flight in 4-7 mph setup was same as all foils till i tried to get air in it.
at these low wind speeds not filling on ground by itself took to lifting leading edge up and down quickly till shes half full. (next time i may try
leaving the deflate zips open to see if they catch more air)
flew nice but required brake lines to be shortened a lot. then the downloop turns were tight enough.(shoulda got the 25 meter lineset)
nice and mellow at zenith flew hands off. more stable than my apex.
at edge of window it did this lower tip roll thing that may have been the marginal wind. the closed cell design is pretty awesome! after landing she
sits ready to launch for extended periods. reverse launches well after leading edge crash. the pull builds up smooth. as i was static cant speak about
the upwind, i'm guessing not over great because of fat profile, will find out in winter.
as it was pretty steady winds (for vermont) not sure how she will handle the jank.
i think probably well because of the way she stays full of air and holds shape for example at zenith, during a lull, lines slacked and it just held
its wing shape and floated there, really kinda cool.
all in all a lot of value here. i am tempted to buy more as $266 for a new 8 meter de-power RTF is an easy way to expand a quiver.
maybe i got lucky. or maybe pansh is pulling it together.
whatever the case i like this kite and may get another, question is, which one?
