Good ideas for buggy foot peg retention
I've long felt that the straps I use on my buggy foot pegs look sort of like 10 lbs of dung in a 5 lb bag. The front end of my ride is a
standard-issue PL BigFoot+. My somewhat lame contribution to the front end was to slap some old mountain bike bar extenders on the peg ends and sling
some webbing across to put my heel against to hold up my foot. Perfectly functional setup but it just looks so darn crappy and jury rigged. Sort of
puts Van's great work to shame as I replaced the standard-issue rails and seat for his wonderful upgrade kit and upgraded to Sysmic rims.
I was hoping others could post some pictures of more elegant solutions to foot retention. I'm not a fabricator but would be open to buying something
nice that would clip into the foot peg posts on the front fork. I'm not looking to jump (ya think?) so I'm not looking for retention for that
purpose. Below are some pics of my current setup. Thanks! :karate:

Perhaps a new bit of HD seat belt/truck strap webbing with a sewn loop on the outside so it neatly slips over the upright and a steel tri-glide for
adjustment on the other, throw the duct tape off and replace rubber with some appropriately sized rubber/foam tube and job done!
edit: the Tri-glides are what I've used for my foot loop adjustment on the 'double trouble' thread here: Double Trouble

what I currently have on the PL buggy is about 5' of climbing webbing [c. 1" across] tied into a loop and then larksheaded to the fork leg and to the
end of the footpeg. For bonus points I did red for Port and green for Starboard [<< "look a geek" :D]
NASA wings -1 to 12m [mostly KM4]
Foils -2 -12m [mostly PL & Pansh]

This is my current setup. When I redo it; I'm going to use thicker webbing.
I couldn't stand the footpeg rattle so I pushed the spring clip into the peg to store it; then drilled through the existing hole and bolted it. It's
reversible if I need to use the quick release pegs for some reason since they are still in the peg.
Drill a proper size hole into the 'Bakelite' peg ends for any type of fastener. I'm sure they might shatter if you attempt to just use a self
drilling type fastener with no pilot hole.
I put some 1" dia. heat shrink tubing on the foot pegs to give them some tack: http://www.harborfreight.com/5-piece-heat-shrink-wire-wrap-a...
