wheeee! handles!

with some flying with regular depower kites i decide to buy a 3.5 Adam(witch I understood to be a FB kite)and flew it on a small bar setup from my rush.
after i fly it a few times, i realise it needs front line input.
i test theory one day by dropping the bar and reaching up and grabbing the frontlines and noticed the speed increase.
left and right pumps sent lobster to zenith. on bar with no mixer,
only brakes.
so i fix up a set of handles.(guess what they used to be, and win)
yes! now i get what precision flying is! big upgrade in control!
any body use handles with mixer equipped kites?
i think my peak might like them because it likes line tension always!

CK, You understand that the lines that deliver power on a fixed bridle, like the Adam, are opposite of the lines on a depower right?

For example, the power on your Rush comes from the outer lines at the bar ends. They also double as steering lines. With the center lines being for brake input only.

Whereas a depower, the outer lines are for altering angle of attack and steering. While the center lines are for power. The mixer is what enables/limits the angle or attack.

Just want to be sure youre clear on this.

Based on your post it sounds like you don't quite understand the difference.

Also, be mindful that although a small fixed bridle can be used as a high wind kite, the gusts are going to beat the tar out of you some days. Being able to dump the gusts manually is why depowers are gold in land. Especially in New England.

yes chris, i understand the difference between FB and DP. i grasp the mixer and how it changes AOA .
im just experimenting and learning new skills first hand.
ive been static flying all summer and its kinda boring. good practice, but limited.
i thought i might convert the adam to depower, but for now i think i will leave it, as flying with handles is really fun!

dang ssayre! you are so graceful on that board! so smooth!
i must build some doom wheels so i can get moving in the summer.
i bought a used MTB but it a bit small for me (grom 6) so my foot is always scrubbing the back wheels and the springs are weak
so its hard to balance. skis are really my thing anyway.

You can buy egg shocks from MBS http://shop.mbs.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=egg+shocks

to stiffen the springs. Many riders go stiffer heal side and softer toe side but if you only wanted to buy one set figure it out based on your weight.

Eggshock Ratings*:
RED for super high speed / super low turning.
ORANGE for high speed / low turning.
YELLOW for medium speed / medium turning.

*Ratings are based on a 175 lb rider. Lighter riders need softer eggshocks

Okay just making sure. As anyone on here for any length of time will tell you, stranger things have happened. :duh:

Also I just saw in your sig that you have the Rush School, not the Rush. That added to my confusion. :P

Carry on!
