Big Hello and question
Hi there guys.
Ive been flying for a few years and Im after some new(ish) kit. I can buy a fairly cheap Flexifoil Sabre 7.0m locally. Now, I went onto ebay and
read that this is comparable to a Blade 3/4m. This statment has left me somewhat confused. Does this mean that this 7m Sabre has comparable lift to
a 3/4m Blade, or what?
Any help greatfully recieved,
John.

Sabre is depower whereas Blade is fixed bridle. I don't know how familar you are to depower kites but due to their depower nature, they are known to
be less efficient than fixed bridle in same size. So, when it's fully powered ,7M depower kite generates approximately same pull as 5 or 6M fixed
bridle. - Brian

The lift is definitely NOT comparible though... The main thing is the efficiency in the fixed bridle system so while it might produce the same kind of
power the size of the canopy will make the kite MUCH less floaty and less stable.
You will be able to go much higher on a 7m sabre than on a 3m blade mainly because the flying confidence it provides - i love 7m sabres in 20mph+ of
wind they lift beautifully and float beautiful whereas a 3m fixed bridle will be a pig, will whip around in the air far too fast and it will lift you
without giving you any float and so lead to paaaainnn!!!

Depower is the name of the game then. I must admit to not having flown a depower kite before. Ive flown extensivley on 4 line kites, and the idea of
a depower kite sounds funky. Some guys who fly on the same field as us have some Sabres, so Ill go have a go see what all the fuss is about.
Cheers,
John
