Things thus far

As some of you might remember, i joined not terribly long ago and went from flying a Symphony 1.3 to a Crossfire II 5m with nothing in between. To date, ive got around 30 outings with the Crossfire and no supermans yet, lol. I havent hit wind higher than 10-12 mph yet and have only done static thus far. I have aquired a board and harness to increase my fun factor, but havent used them yet due to lack of opportunity, lol.

I HAVE missed out on many days by not having a smaller kite that i should have trained on first had i went about things the normal way. I am looking for something in the 2.5-3.5 range but funds have gotten tight due to the approaching holidays, lol. Being a fairly large guy (6'3", 235lbs) closer to 3.5m.

Ive had a TON of fun thus far and look forward to having even more as i get mobile! Ive learned much from digging through the archives and current posts in addition to my own experiences.

This is a great forum to be a part of!

I have the holidays to deal with also, and a few 3-4m kites to sell. Help a guy out with getting some money together. Lol

I thought I already did, lol. But if something is available for less than $100... i might only get my legs broke by the Mrs instead of a crushed skull by landscaping brick, lol.

This my friends is what's called a "bridal" problem. So many times times they are described as such but really it's just "bridle" troubles, which are oh so much simpler to navigate.

True enough, but theres definately something to be said for spending time teaching my 5 yr old to fly my Symphony! He has and uncanny knack for making it fly for a little bit and then perfectly diveboming me with it, lol.

My wifes not too bad, she knows i get carried away sometimes with my interests. But she did grow up in rough neighborhoods in Toledo, so nothing is beyond her, lol.

I am all about learning to hook in but suggest you remain unhooked when learning to board if you use the Crossfire. Hook in to rest up and walk upwind. It will extend your fly time.

I never push it hooked in the handles and a strop.

You really want to get comfortable with that Outlaw! It should be very happy and a lot less threatening than your Crossfire in those 10 - 12mph winds. A MUCH better choice for learning to board.

Learning to board moderately powered under a big kite like your Outlaw is a whole lot easier than it will be with the 5m Crossfire. More kite to lean back against + you don't need to dive it near as aggressively.

If you are just buying a smaller FB to fun fly then go for it. If you are wanting a power kite to board with save up for a 7m ish depower.

Here is a good deal!

I havent had a chance to toss the Outlaw to the wind yet, needed a harness first (thanks Jeff!). My thoughts though, matched yours, the Outlaw will fit my goals better for boarding and the Crossfire will eventually be a buggy engine. I love flying it static, even more so now that ive adjusted the bridle knots for the lines. I plan on boading unhooked with it when the winds right for it. Lately its either too strong for a newbie boarder or not strong enough to even skud, lol.
