So my boy has been looking to replace the tires on his buggy and with the beach on the Great Salt lake being a little soft in places I was looking at midi tires.
There is a company in the UK that sell buggy tires at a reasonable price but will not ship to the US.
They are quite happy for me to arrange for my own shipment/customs but that just seemed like a pain.
Anyways I digress.
I was going to contact Kent at A Wind of Change but remembered a post here about golf cart tires.
Well we are lucky enough to have a golf cart repair shop here in SLC, so I gave them a call.
After explaining what I was looking for the guy (Wiley) said I could look through the bin and take what ever I liked the look of.
Well it was a buggiers alladin's cave.
The tires were perfectly worn with just enough tread left to hold the lateral pull but not too much.
I also saw some nice Motorcycle tires but decided to leave them as I have just bough a brand new set for my buggy.
I will be definitely keeping this place in mind for midi tires in the future.

AWESOME!... I'm the guy with the golf-pro's on his buggy!... Just a heads up though, they are bigger than midis. The standard Golf cart tire is 18x8.5-8 (I think), so they will be too big for the standard from fork that fits most Barrow tires. So I have the 2 Golf cart tires on back and a slightly smaller ribbed Midi tire (a 16x6-8 I think) on the front... I got the golf cart tires for free so all I paid for was like $30 on Amazon for the Midi and it works great for me! The GC tires are a PAIN to get off of the metal rims they come on though FYI.



Also be cautious with your tire pressure on the GC tires, with too much pressure, they can and will crack the standard plastic buggy rims.

Luckily I managed to get the tires on their own so no removing from the original rims. Phew!
I am not sure but I think that the GC wheel might just fit to my son's front fork as it is an RS buggy with a slightly wider fork profile.
It measures 8" internally so we could be lucky.
If not then I will have to get a standard Midi for him.

Sorry I wasn't entirely clear, its more a matter of height (or diameter): on a Peter Lynn front fork the GC tire won't fit because when you squeeze them onto the plastic buggy rim, the 18" diameter gets a little bigger. ... it will really depend on what kind of front fork you have.

They end up being a little closer to Bigfoot lights than midis as they are between midi and BF size.

Ahh okie dokie, thank you for the heads up.
I'm gonna see how I get on tonight with fitting them and let you know.

Got the tires on last night but pinched one of the inner tubes!!!!!!!!!!!
At least I managed to see if the front wheel would fit and it fits perfect with some room to spare.
It looks like the forks were built for a larger tire so that is a double result.
I will get down to the store and buy another tube tomorrow ready for the boy to try them out on the beach Saturday
