what's most like a pl viper 2.6?
just flew the viper. that was a great recommendation! thanks ssayer!
it is sad that this model is no longer being made.
what current kite model might mimic the characteristics of the viper?
as always, any input is greatly appreciated.
still waiting for the rage 2.5 to hit my doorstep.

I've owned a few different kites and nothing I've flown was similar to a viper. It's a pretty unique kite imo. There's a lot of kites I haven't
flown, so not sure on what (if anything) would be comparable.

got the rage late yesterday and just got back from a so-so maiden flight. it does not seem to handle all that well, actually. solid 10-11mph open
area wind and it's ... a dog. might be the biggest waste of money on a kite purchase yet.
i actually think my pansh flux is way, way better in quality and performance.
april fools!
in fact, i just fell in love with a hunk of cloth and string.
abkayak, for my uses, i think you nailed it with your opinion.
thanks for that, and have a great weekend.

I'm surprised to hear you don't like the rage. I've never flown one myself but they seem to always get good reviews. I've never heard anything bad
about them.
The only kite I have flown that might compare to the 2.6m Viper S would be a Libre Speedy II. I think it was a 2.6m also if I remember. That thing was
super fun pulled hard was fast and stable. I spent hours playing with that kite. I didn't want to give it back at the end of the day.

PL Viper S was one of my favorite FB foils I ever had. ... I had a 2.6m and a 6.8m. And between those I had a 4.0m and 5.1m PL Core, also discontinued
around the same time as the Viper series... that wa my fist FULL quiver and it was pretty awesome. I only just recently sold that 2.6m, and only
because I never got to fly in in my local conditions.
Someone said it above... Vipers were unique, and the only thing I felt was similar to it was the Core, both of which it was a shame to lose IMO.
I'm going to take a nap now

soliver - thank you very much. if rdavis sells me his core 2.3, maybe you can squeeze him for a finders fee!
the little bit that I just read about the core tells me that it should be great for play, as is the viper. now the problem will be deciding which to
take out, since I just added a rage 2.5 to the mix.

What are you looking to do with these kites?
It seems you have a number of similar kites in a similar size?
If I was in your boots I would be working at building a quiver of different sized kites + deciding what kind of ride will best suit my style and
location.
Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.
Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

You'll like the Core. Its just as powerful if not more and perhaps a little less punchy.

bladerunner - my kite usage
had to wait on a reply from the University at Buffalo, NY. to be able to send this reply. risk management is allowing me to bring my bunch of kites
there when I help coach a diving camp in june. there will probably be between 50 and 60 kids of all ages and sizes that will now get a chance to kite
that have likely never done it before.
we won't have a lot of extra available hours, so that means that I need more kites to handle the numbers of kids.
I'm doing this because of the tremendous amount of fun that my high school divers had when I threw kites into the mix of their normal drills and
exercises. it's all they talked about for months.
my brother and his wife are currently using my 2 and 3m hornets, and the new to me core 2.3. he'll hang on to them until I go to the camp. hopefully
I can pry his fingers off of them. if not, i'll buy more.
my neighbors have shown interest in flying as well. I just happen to have sizes that'll work for them.
that's the gist of it - they're not just for me.
that, and 1- I have an addictive personality, 2- I am a hoarder, and 3- I am very stupid when it comes to money management.
but I do have lots of fun and enjoy life tremendously.
