Anyone on here have A Sysmic Buggy...? Looking for opinions/reviews. I know of one that shows up at WW every year. Anyone else...?

Yes I have 2 Sysmic S2 buggy's. (One lives in a box in a shed on the east coast of Queensland Australia where I go each Easter to buggy. I fly out tomorrow to be there for a month.)
Both bought on 4" rims fitted with Midi Xl tyres.
Both have done a hell of a lot of work over the last 7 years. I bought the second one 2nd hand off a huge guy that really tested it out. He had fitted spacers to the swan neck side rail point to fit in it. I'm 250lb and 6'2" and have got both buggys really well balanced.
I have since converted one to 21"Beach racers on 8" rims at the rear and still a 4" rim on the front for rough beach work. A home made front fork and swan neck. Later I also made a new rear axle 12" wider for the Beach racers. Not necessary but improved stability at high speed on rough beaches.

Both mine are black (sort of a matt black powder coat over a galvanized primed frame.) It does fade and chip over time though.

I have had some huge crashes and only bent a rear axle, both 20mm wheel bolts and popped both rear tyres off their rims in a hell of a crash. They are tough and constructed really well. I thought the Sysmic was heavy till I tried lifting an MG buggy. It certainly is compared to a Peter Lynn.

The Sysmic rims are first class. Lacquered alloy, in my opinion an excellent design with safety beads and proper spacers between the bearings, so a 30mm socket and 20" breaker bar and swing on it as tight as you want to retain the wheels and they still run freely and are well balanced. Great engineering!!!!

I really love the seat/side rail design, as it retains you comfortably in the buggy when seated. (hips are retained slightly under the rails, but can still be lifted out.) The back rest is really good/strong and well padded too.
The seat can be adjusted for width (narrowed up) by tearing open the "triangular Velcro retained flaps in each side" built into the seats and adding triangles of EPP foam if you are a smaller framed guy. The 4 bits of EPP foam were supplied with the buggy from new, but not explained in the manual.

It did take a bit of fiddling round to get the seat just how I wanted it, adjusting straps here and there till the seat was spot on for comfort and the buggy balanced so the back end lets go in a drift just before the front. The side rail and back rest padding (2 layers of 3/8" EPP foam, or only one layer if your bigger than me) does compress under the seat straps, so the first ride for the day is a bit snug for the first 5 minutes till is settles in.

To get in I sit on the front of the seat and then slide back into it by pushing back on the footpegs. It's quite snug to squeeze into but once into position, they are SOO comfortable. My older Sysmic has now GPS logged over 12,700kms. (3 sets of wheel bearings)

I would most certainly buy another if I needed it.
I have done over 8 hours "nonstop" in one session in my Sysmic and only stopped as I ran out of daylight. It's like a snug fitting armchair comfort wise. If your a big fella like me just let the seat sit quite low to the ground to maximize the wrap round side rail design. My bum sits 40mm clear of the ground on Midi XL's. Heaps of clearance on Beach racers.

Do I love em.........you betcha I do. Great value for money.

Why did you go with S2 over S1...?

Dirtslide also has one. He has had almost every buggy possible and has found his match.

The sweetest looking buggy I have ever seen! His is stainless.

I wish! I tried to order one 2 weeks ago but I was told they are out of stock in both the S1 and S2 models.

We have been in contact via email, yes. Nice guy....just nothing in stock at the moment.

That is what Jason at "Briskites" in Brisbane QLD kite shop had in stock at the time and it needed to be compact to live in boxes in a mates shed for most of the year ready for when I flew in.


The second S2 was just too good a deal to go past. Practically brand new and for what he was asking for it. (Basically rim and tyre price as he had injured himself and his wife made him get rid of it after 8 months off work and a new bub in the family)

Yes I would most certainly go S1 if I had the choice again, as my standard S2 is stretched to the limit length wise. The swan necks taper (at the rear of it) is as far forward out through the side rail attachment as possible for me.
Also all the mods I've done over the last few years to make it basically a S1.
I had Beach racers and Sysmic rims for the 4 buggys I had built, but I never achieved the comfort of the Sysmics simple 3 bend side rail design. My buggy build #5 did, as I then had a side rail design I just had to lengthen.

I've not had much hassle with corrosion (bit of surface rust here and there where it's chipped) but I do wash it down most times after a run. Stainless would solve this.

I'm certain you wouldn't be disappointed with a S1. Everyone that's used my S2 has loved it and 2 guys have gone on and bought them.

I'm looking at getting the S2 on Midi XL's as well.... I've given up on getting a legit buggy before April's WBB and will be in my kite trike for one more weekend. I've only read good things about the S2....

I wouldn't be surprised if I'll be importing one of these.
