Ozone samurai 2

Hey guys, i wanted to buy a fixed bridle kite for easy cruising. any suggestions on size? i'm not sure how my depowers compare to the fixed bridles. i want to grow and compliment my quiver. i weigh 160lbs and usually board on sand or grass. anyone know what the boardable wind range is for these kites? your input will keep me stoked!!

best,
m

Kite to kite will differ but your 7m Montana is likely close to being equivalent to a 3 - 4 meter fixed bridle kite and your 12.5 is likely close to a 6 - 8m fixed bridle kite.

So are you simply looking for someting that is no-hassel flying but redundant to the wind range of your Montanas? If that is the case I'd go with a 4 or 5 meter (probably the 5).

Or if you want it for the high winds a 2 or 3 meter.

Or if you want it for the low winds because it will be less heavy than your montanas I'd say the 7.2 meter.

That's probably not much help sine I've named every kite in the range but you should decide what you really want to use it for and then the guidelines above may make more sense.

I found Good deals online on the original Sami's .
5m are pretty cheap now.

I see that Ozone is coming out with a CULT and ending the Sami2 already.
The sami2 should be coming down in price soon too I'd guess.

Id say get a 5m. Then a 3m later on for WINDY days...

U Turn Helium, Oxigen, or Oxi Pros are nice kites. Never seen a bad review or comment on any of their kites. Your depowers have you covered pretty well though. What are your winds (mph) that you normally fly in? I have a Sami 1 five meter and she is sweet on the board from 10 to 20 mph but again your 12.5 has that wind range covered! When you said easy cruising Im thinking lower winds so I agree with B and say look at a 7 meter U Turn or Sami!

Are U-Turn kites available in the States? I've heard nothing but good things about them on the Flexi forum but never come across anyone flying them in the States. But then again, I'd never come across an Air Evo either and then lo and behold :o :wink2:

These guys seem to be the North American distributors for U-Turn kites:

http://www.ripsessionkites.netfirms.com/

I've also been reading a lot about these kites on the UK forum sites and these seem to be regarded as the kites hard to beat right now...
