Looking for a NS3 10 or 12.5m. My current Nasas do excellent in my area, more so than any of my other kites (minus the Crossfire and Pepper). My 7m just isnt big enough for those light wind days, close but not quite enough. If anyones got one theyd be willing to let go of or do a partial or full trade for one of my kites (minus the 2 listed above, theyre MINE, lol) let me know.

There were a few floating around. Last I remember Ed Cline had some of the really big NS kites. Not sure he would part with them though.

If you should have to buy new, consider a DFO. Plenty of adjustment, nice price too.
I like my 7.0 just fine.

Yea I used to have a full quiver of NS3's and they are pretty awesome... Ed has what were formerly my 5.5m and 10m... AWESOME kites, but I moved on to Peaks!

Adam - I used to own both the 10 and 12.5m NS3s but gave them to friends here on the forum. When I was flying in fields in the Utah mountains I found very little use for these big ladies. The winds were janky as I suspect they are where you live in Ohio. This is a lot of ripstop to have in the air with little ability to throttle them back with their FB configuration and when the wind picks up you've got a whole lot of power to deal with. In light, variable winds I just find large DP SSs to work better. Think Flysurfer Peak 12m or Born-Kite big LSs or RSs.

I tossed some old videos below with the 10 and 12.5m NS3s in the air. Lots of back flying and stalling if you aren't careful. Even when you are careful. :saint:

I use the 10 and the 12 regular. They fly on an old 30" Slingshot bar, which gives me great leverage on the kite, is work to work, and occasionally rubs a tire. Oooops.

Big, Slow, and unforgiving in variable wind are these girls, plan ahead and don't miss the shifts.
It's a different kind of fun for sure. When a very slow steady walking breeze is all you got.

Ive watched all your vids with the ns3's. I rarely fly mine hooked in, pretty much pure depower mode. Ive come to realize that for me, a normal dp kite just dosent do it... I can fly them but they dont work well with the areas and winds i have available. The NS3's depower setup works perfectly for whats available to me. Ive come to terms with the back stalling as a condition of flying these beauties/beasts. Honestly, i dont particularly care for a traditional dp kite.

I hear ya Ed, lol. My first kite was a 5m Crossfire II so im kinda all about the unforgiving, lol. I might be a lil off in the head but i really like my fb kites in the janky winds ive got here in ohio, lol. Every time someone from work sees a kiter with a lei on lake erie i always get asked if it was me, lol. But im strickly land based, lol.

I fly depower or unhooked mode on NS3 when I'm not comfortable with my speed.
Sometimes it's pretty hard to un hook at speed,
The big deal for me in depower is to be able to dump power without carrying the full weight of the kite in my hands. NASA's can't help me there.

That hasnt been a problem for me, the rare time im hooked in its always been easy to unhook when i get a lil... uncomfortable with a situation.

The only thing I ever used the DP with using the NS3's was as a safety,... they were so well behaved thats all I ever needed it for.... I flew them hooked to help me hold down the power and not wear out my arms.

Well alrighty then. Glad you like them and have gotten square with the back stalling. Know that this effect magnifies as the NS3s get bigger and the winds get lighter. I hope you are able to secure the 10 and 12m NS3s used; not sure how many are actually on US soil. Good luck!
