Brands or kites to avoid

I've been looking at gettin a 3 or 4m land kite for general recreation and possibly a little bit of buggy training!

I'm on a budget so I've looked on eBay but there are a lot of brands and makes I've never heard of like Rhombus and Cirrus.

Is it a good idea to avoid these brands or is it equally bad to dismiss them?

Rhombus and Cirrus are older kites. Haven't really heard about them since 2009-2010 & before. Smaller companies from what I remember. You can find reviews for both on racekites.com. Pretty sure both manufacturers are no longer in business. Customer support is going to be pretty nill.

If they are used kites, you may be dealing with bridle and other surprise issues when they arrive. For the most part, they weren't terrible kites, but they were definitely built with budget in mind. Definitely read the reviews on racekites for a better idea.

If this is your first kite and you are trying to stick to a budget, you might save yourself some headaches by going with a Cross Kites Quattro from PowerKiteShop.com.

You might also want to check the Kitecrowd forum for used kites in the UK.

ATB,
Sam

You may get a kite that flies OK but these kites were not designed as engines. Once you get riding you will be sure to want to upgrade.

If you buy a quality used kite and want to upgrade you can sell it off again at a nominal loss. Trying to sell either of those kites used will be difficult.

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .
