Harness for a big guy?

I noticed that Dakine makes a harness for XXL and it gives the waist measurements. I dont recall what they were. My question is, is that over or under the gut so to speak? I am guessing it is over it and not under. I wonder what alternative you could use to get harnessed in? A spreader bar used some way? A life vest converted to a harness?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Chad

Try mystic with large spreader bar or climbing harness with roller maybe.

Chad... Dakine cuts their harnesses really narrow or something. I bought an xL from them and it fits, but only during the summer months when I have nothing more then a t-shirt on. I'm a 34" waist..if this helps any. I bought an xL harness from Angus that is a Mystic and the harness is SWEET! It's large enough to fit over my winter jacket, but small enough that I can use it during the summer months as well and it doesn't feel like I'm trying to fit into a womans girdle or something, but still snug enough that it doesn't slide up, etc. Definitely worth its weight in gold.
Hope this helps some,
Joe

I know that Dakine makes an impact vest / harness in one. It's a good set-up for the water relieving back strain. I'm not sure how well it would work for a buggy ?

Is this what yu mean?

Here is a climbing harness I found but the hook in is a solid loop rather than a hook.

What could be done?

I have the Dakine Tabu in XXL, they say it's for 40-44" waist. I'm around 44 and it seems to be close to the maximum (with a standard spreader bar).

I've been told at NABX that a good Dakine dealer should be able to have it modified if you need something bigger.

I also bought a petzl falcon sit harness in a cleaning supply store, but haven't used it in the buggy yet. The webbing is wider than on climbing harnesses and the bigger size goes up to 47" waist.

Hope that helps,

i've found the new dakine harnesses run SMALL for their supposed size. everyone i've fitted lately for a dakine has to get 1 size up from what they usually wear or their true waist size. Mystic harnesses are spot on in size range, but no XXL.

i don't know of any dealer who would modify a harness..... just sell em the next size up..... why ruin the warranty or risk of lawsuit by changing a perfectly good harness?
