Kite crazy!
Is it normal to be always watching the weather? When I go outside all I do is look at trees. My wife thinks I am crazy. My kids think I am cool. And I just dont know anymore. But I do know I want another
kite and I am kite crazy!!

I Spoke to a number of kite enthusiasts this last weekend. One major topic was where do you get your weather reports from? I find that I have 4 or 5
ways online,....or I have the tendency to look at flags often.

Today, sunny, warm, wind 25-35mph, me stuck in a stupid union meeting looking out through a crack in the blinds watching a tree branch whipping back
and forth, hoping the meeting would be over in time to catch some wind.
Get used to it.

I pretty much only watch the weather report to see if it is going to rain or be windy.
I get up first in the morning and when my wife gets up and asks the weather for the day, all I can recall is that it will not rain and the wind is
expected to be blowing at X miles per hour.
I fly at lunch time and when I get back to the building on nice days people always ask, "is it nice out? or warm out? etc.?" That always throws me.
I guess it was nice out. I know it was definitely a good wind day.
Kiting, like any hobby you're passionate about, will change your life and perspective on things.

Not only do I find myself watching the trees & flags as I drive down the road, I get very concerned when we get those crazy wind days and the wind
starts gusting over 30+
I see people at the park carrying out porta-shades when the wind is that crazy and I just cringe wondering if I should turn and look the other way or
head over and try to convince them not to open it up.
Flying power kites sure does give you a new found respect for the wind.

two words...www.weather.com
You'll learn which trees and flags show the most correct wind direction and speed in your area.
There is one flag in the area that blows in the direct opposite direction from the true wind direction. This is probably because it is right next to
a high rise condo building.

Mmmmm, another smoking wind day, 6mph gusting to around 8mph, fully lit on the 13m Century. Today's the first time I had trouble doing my transitions
though, every time I tried to change directions I was getting a couple feet of air by accident.

My wife simply knows, when the trees outside are swaying, I'm out the door, it's just better that way. She used to try and stop me, but hated me
moping around the house more than me being gone kiting for a couple or five hours.
I know travel to work with a trunk full of kites and have ordered an ATB just small enough to get locked in the trunk with my kites.
