Well I took drive over in that area....the round green areas are gone....I could not find the "Athens field" apparently it is behind the Casino but
I only saw a crappy field covered in foxtails....then just kept driving.....I assume that the field is very small...good for take offs, and
landings.....I could not find the red baron airfield for model airplaned...it is in a landfill area and I did not see any openeing to it...I am going
back there tomorrow after work...just to find the field ..today I was trying to be back-to-sac traffic....

Hey your right! Iv'e been there it is just for take off and landings. I talked to some giuy out there who was parasailing. The feilds do suck around
there.I live in marysville.can you tell me some good places to fly? That is a big issue for me right now.I have been waiting 2 week for my new kite
and I am way stressed out! As you know we just have alot of rice fields around here. Or fox tail fields like you said. I am thinking about going into
a alfalfa field after they mow because right now I just static fly not ready to board yet. They would be great for that. The guy said they go behind
the casino every saturday they can to fly kites and paragliders. But the field does suck not very good for flying. It is the field on the right before
you get to the land fill. You should be able to see the wind sock. Hey keep in touch. so far you are the only local flyer I have heard of besides the
paraglider guy. Thanks. Skip.:D

Key Skip ,
If You are to paragliding You should visit dumps at Pacifica,I was buggying there few times but place is for advanced off road buggy pilots ,not only
as it is loose surface and wind is more vertical than horizontal,You also have to watch paragliders as they can land on You.Great spot to paraglide if
You have P2.Not that far away ~7miles north is buggy mecca for Nor Cal -Ocean Beach.I did buggy once all the way from cliff house to the dumps at
negative tide and perfect 18mph west. You can also try Mountain View on amphytheatre parking lot if they don't play or go to Cesar Chaves park in
Berkeley(I think You can kite there Your wing as I saw few times guys doing that.
Cheers.

If all you are doing is static flying, there are a few large fields in some local parks around here.
I go to gibson ranch park, its a good place to static fly or learn on a board if you want. It cost $4 to get in (parking).
I also go to Pheonix park in Fair Oaks, or Ancil Hoffman in Carmichael.
