Hi all, I am new to the sport and new to this forum. If I am in the wrong spot, I apologize. I have a question to ask.

Has anyone ever used a box on the back of a buggy instead of a bag? Any negatives or positives?

A little more info... I have a flexifoil with the wide axle.. lots of room.

...on the simple PL bag, it holds a spare kite and then some
if you take the time to close it correct it stays dry...but i tend not to take the time
it'll hurt way less when you flip too....i tend to do that some
but a custom box can hold lots and is very cool

Do you mean the PL bag like this one. If so, I have not been able to find one for sale. I do have one on my PL Drifter (sons ride). And when mounted on the flexifoil the opening is facing the wrong direction. (not that big a deal)

Agree that the bags work great. Further agree, sadly, that they are very hard to find. I just perused awindofchange site but didn't see one right off the bat. You might call Ken at this online shop and see if he has one. Sometimes he has parts and pieces like this that don't make it to the webpage. Worth a try anyway.

Another way to go about this is to make a posting in the WANTED section of PKF. I actually did exactly that a couple years ago when I was on the quest for a BLACK PL bag. I had a blue one but wanted the black as it went with my buggy's color scheme. In the end Rick (Wind_dog) most kindly swapped my blue one for his black one. He's just that good a guy.

A high end way to go would be to connect up with buggybags in the UK. They make superb custom seats, bags, and the like. I know several people on this forum that have gone with them after also exhausting other options. Here is their website:

Ed as far as kiting in Aurora, there is a few soccer fields but the tree line from all directions make it some what.... well challenging.
Back in '98 I think this lake was still part of the amusement park. (Geauga Lake, then later Six Flags then later Cedar Point some time there was a Sea World there also maybe in the '80s)

To run a kite buggy I actualy travel a few hours west to Maumee Bay Ohio. And now I plan on joining in at the WBB in a few weeks.

The PL bag is nice, but a duffle is OK, too.
Look out for a bag for kayaking...

Thanks for all the in put. It looks like everyone is leaning towards a bag.
And abkayak you make a good point of it hurting way less if or when the bug lands on you.

I am going to still try and get a second PL Bag. How ever for now I rigged an old sport bag I had sitting around that was not being used. It holds a 6.5 Pansh kite and a 5.0 Skydog kite.... plus some extras...

Thanks for the advice I did post in the wanted section of this forum, and pbc had a blue PL bag to offer up.

you originally asked about a "box." At one time I engineered a thin board [~1/16" or 1/8" thick] to sit between the rails on the straps that go from the seat to the rear axle. I then found a Husky tool bag that fit that space and used that for a while. A bit more rigidity than a "buggy bag." Just a DIY idea for you.

Yes that is a great way to go. And actually the pic of my buggy above.. I have a sport bag from Sampsonite mounted between the rails. So what you can't / don't see is the 3/16 MDF frame inside the bag. I basically made a tray that fit inside then I connected Velcro straps thru the bottom of the bag to the tray. That allowed me to attach the bag to the buggy and have a ridged bottom (no sag). It looks clean and keeps the tray out of the elements. Added bonus, all the materials used... I had sitting around the garage, so the cost was unbeatable.

Had an old piece of plywood cut up to fit in the rear wedge and rest on the rear axle. Put a back rest on it and used it to give the kids buggy rides, when no munchkins were on it I would carry stuff . Water, snacks, spare kite, It did rattle a fair bit though. I've seen people using a similar system to have their puppers ride along with them. All depends on what you want back there. If I got something now it'd probably be a waterproof buggy bag type of thing
