Thread the needle?
I lost the release ball on an PL Navigator. So never leave it open like I always have, to keep it free and working.
Two weeks later it was found in the dirt. Thanks to St Anthony and three trips later. So Hurrah....
The little elastic broke. The holes are very small to thread in new elastic, and I need to find some elastic, not too thick.
Any solution for a simpleton?

Thread and needle :D
Take a piece of old kite line or fishing line etc... needle + thread it through the end of your new bungee (melt the end and thin out first)... the
kite line will easily go through the plastic hole.
I don't remember what size the bungee is, but probably pretty easy to find.
I think I have my old QR here somewhere (replaced with Kite Attitude QR... I LOVE it). 20 bucks and it's yours.

Thread and needle sounds good. Or use a fid if you have one. Some guys use guitar strings to make a fid. I'd look at Ace Hardware for the bungee.
Or maybe a sewing store would have some elastic.

Flymarket Kite supply has a few different sizes of Bungee down to 1/16".
https://www.flymarketkites.com/bungee/bungee-shock-cord
You should be able to use the old sleeve still inserted as a pull for the new elastic. As stated above, Sleeving kit/fid/guitar string all are viable
options..

Some stoppers used on bars, where you can slide them to different positions to stop your bar from sliding up, have a conical shaped hole for the
Amsteel trim lines to pass through. When putting new line into the stoppers it it's into the upper wider hole but is extremely tight at the smaller
diameter exit hole. For those I'll take a good strip of tape and wrap the tape around the last few inches of the line and continue to wrap the tape so
it hangs like a long tapered icicle off the end of the line. I can then insert the long thin tapered tape through the stopper, about 3-4 inches of
this tape come through the hole and it's gradually getting thicker and wrapped onto the line. I then grab the tape it's pliers and pull the line
through the tight hole. You can either unwrap the tape or sometime just cut the few inches off that are wrapped in tape.
This technique might also work for the bungee as long as the tape is strong enough to grab and pull the st through but also not really thick tape that
will make it a tighter fit to pull through

Stretch the over length elastic out as hard as it will go and clamp it (Having a short 50mm section that's elevated/clear of obstructions each end. I
elevate it with matchsticks each end) soak this elevated section in superglue and leave it to completely dry. Cut one end where it's been soaked at 45
degrees and now you have a stiff needle that's much thinner to thread it through whatever is needed. Pull the length fully through
your item to use the other end of the roll to rebuild your item, leaving the "needle" end on the length for the next repair. Works a treat on all
elastic shock cord and dyneema. On sheaved dyneema remove part of the core and then the needle will truly be pointed where the outer weave pulls in
tight (you can twist it slightly to tighten it up) and it can squeeze through small orifices.

Leave it to Chook to know how to put skinny things into small orifices.
That's actually a great trick!

I do it like Mark described except I use peel-and-stick fabric. If it doesn't cause any trouble, I leave it on the end of the line for rethreading and
other maintenance later. Cut the peel and stick width to 4 - 4.5 diameters of the cord. That way it completes the wrap, but not much more. Put about 1
cm of peel-and-stick on the cord. leave about 3cm hanging off the end.
If you wrap it skinny enough, you might be able to crease it and poke it through the hole without a wire.
