New members can't register?
I've seen postings on Reddit of people trying to join this forum but are unable to. Apparently the system won't let them register. Is there anything
that can be done to allow new members to join?

I don't remember how it was back in the day when I joined but didn't there used to be a link at the top for new members to join. I guess that
disappeared over the years. Nothing there now. No wonder it's always so quiet in here . We are operating in stealth mode

The problem was it was too easy to join and nearly every new member was blasting the forum with SPAM. While this current method may be a little
restrictive, it does keep the spam way down..
Just to see the behind the scenes impact this has had take a look at http://www.powerkiteforum.com/misc.php?action=list&page=... and notice how many of those members had to be banned. SPAM is not a new problem
and the current solution isn't ideal but it does work.
There is a path for anyone that wants to join to do so.. but thankfully the days of joining and blasting the forum with SPAM and SCAMs have been put
to rest for the most part.

Although I do remember the days of all the spam I would have to respectfully disagree that there is a path to join if there isn't a small corner that
says 'contact mad moose studio for further information on joining'. Not my gig though so I will shut up now and let the professionals do their thing.
Stealth it is

I do see both sides and I too am just a regular user.. Not sure if I was trying to join now if I would go to the extra trouble or not..
I also have to recognize the effort that was involved in cleaning up.

I logged out and went over everything as a guest. I agree there should be something like a sticky topic at least on how to register.

FYI, new members still can't join. Posted on reddit kite forum..."Hmm I am seeing the PL Lynx there for $325 now. Yet I haven't made it to the forums
yet (got an email with login credentials, but they didn't work) " I
I get the spamming thing but it would be nice if new members could infuse some enthusiasm and discussion.

In a way the forum is just a reflection of society in general unfortunately. Not much works anymore.
The whole thing is circling the drain.

I just joined. Took me a while to find the thread to describe how to submit the request (and when I did, I wasn't sure if it was even the right site
based on what the form says). After that, it took a while (1-2 months?) to get an e-mail with a user name a password. Glad that I'm in now.

I'm not sure who the moderators are but is it possible to upgrade the maximum size of pixels and kb regarding to pictures?
800x800 with 250kb is so prehistoric since nowadays with smartphones up to 20 megapixels..
