I've been popping back into PKF with increasing frequency over the past several months and I think it's finally working....I'm really starting to feel like it's time to "start over, dig out the kites, strap on the kite killers and get some ripstop in the air.

We moved into the house we're now in partly because it has a soccer field and ball diamond in the big field RIGHT across the street. I've flown literally ONCE out there in the six or seven years we've lived here. To be fair to myself I HAVE flown single liners and double liners many, many times. But no traction. I've got some Coyotes raring to get some air in the tires and an ATB that ALMOST got turned into an eSkate.

I think I've spent a good deal of time convincing myself that the field is too shadowed by the houses around it but there must be ONE wind direction that's good? Even if it just forms one sweet spot down the field for me? I won't know until I get out there and find out.

This is me declaring to my kite family that I'm gonna try. Look at all those kites in the sig...it's not right that they are hiding in a closet.

Agree with the kite killers completely. I've got about 10 brand new pairs rotting in a bag right now...never to see the light of day.

Yea...I want to be attached to a power kite by my wrists that I just "dropped" because it was too powerful. Um...no.

How about dropping the fixed bridle kites entirely? I recommend flying depower kites on long throw bars to maximize functionality and safety at the same time

I'll definitely be flying the depower kites out there but it's a tight space. Well, the space isn't tight, it's the useable wind channels that are tight so a fast moving fixed bridle will probably net me a bit more success - especially if I decide to roll the buggy out from under the deck.

I'm trying to remember if kite killers were a no-no 'back in the day" and I've forgotten that about them. I don't think I've ever flown a FB without them but then again I didn't spend a load of time on the FBs, I ended up primarily snowkiting with the depower kites.

Ha! I remember briefly trying someone else's kite which came with those annoying kite killers attached. To keep them from swinging about I decided to wear them. Somehow I managed to reverse the bug over the lines again and again. The kite powered up and I got turfed out. Then I found myself standing there handcuffed to the rear axle trying to control an uncontrollable kite with a bigfoot in my face. :D

Veteran sure. Buggy master....well.......I spent a lot of time in the seat. Not sure how much of it was actually rolling. Hahaha

Took the first step today - the kites are now at the front of the Kite Kloset. I made sure to work quickly lest my "insisting I think about selling some kites" wife see them all sitting in one spot in the basement.....I took a pic but will NEVER show her. Thank God for the Peter Lynn kite bag - there's a good load of ripstop hiding in that one bag alone!
