Finally going to my first kite event!

After 14 years, I have finally decided to attend my first kite event. I always dreamed of going to one when I was younger, but being I live in North Dakota and starting kiting at 12, never had a chance until now that I am through college and have a stable job. I haven't kited in a few years due to paragliding consuming all my free time. At one point I considered selling all my gear and thought i would give up kiting for good. A local paragliding pilot also flies kites and convinced me to buggy a frozen lake and I realized what I was missing out on. After 14 years, I was hooked again!

As for choosing an event, distance really isn't a factor being pretty much every event is 1500 miles or more away from me. Right now I am heavily leaning towards SOBB as I have a buddy that lives an hour away and I can paraglide and rock climb when the event is not going on. IBX and JIBE also sound like a blast, but I don't know if i can make it to more than one this year and I think SOBB is going to take the cake.

I can't wait to finally meet some of you! I feel like of have known many of you for years despite never talking to you face to face. I'm sure it's going to be an experience I never forget.

The events are always fun. You might find a much smaller crowd compared to 10 years ago though. There's only a couple of us in PKF now a days. I think most people use facebook.

SOBB is a great group of guys. I'm sure you'll have plenty of fun out there. Of course everyone must go to Ivanpah at least once in their life. I'll be there this spring. Glad you stayed in the sport along with your other hobbies :thumbup:

Sounds great, a trip of a lifetime. You will have to tell us how you get on. Give us all the details when the time comes:thumbup:
Being self-employed, I have no time to go anywhere and it's killing me inside. :(
So I live through you guys.

I have been to just one meet many years ago here in the UK. Well, tbh the meet came to me so it doesn't count, haha.
It was great to finally put faces to names. Great bunch of people.
