Kite on a bar
Looking to get the wife a kite that flys on a bar. She's had some wrist problems in the past, and finds a bar much more comfortable. She's been
flying various kites of mine up to about 4 meters and starting to get good control, even doing some scudding now, and hooking into a harness.
So for someone fairly new at it, about 130lbs and wanting to eventually get into a buggy... what kite would be recommended out there that flys good
on a bar. Texas winds are usually forecast in the 10 - 15 range when we go to the beach...
(And I already can bet AJ will say a Peter Lynn Arc :P )
What do you do with your foils?
Charger 8, 12, 19
Scorpion 10, 16
And other foils...
Flexifoil Bug, CrazyFly board, MBS atb

After looking at the info on the Beamer TSR's at HQ's site... they do look like a good match. For a little more, what about the Apex's? Anyone fly
them?

I have an Apex 7. It's a very good kite for someone new to de-power from standpoint of cost and (low) complexity. Very easy to rig and fly. Like
other de-powers, 10-12 mph is the low end. I can park mine off my shoulder in the bug and use both hands to rummage around for a water bottle.
Beamers are nice and easy too. The Beamer III will fly on a bar as well as a TSR if you want the added versatility. A good all-around kite.
A good buggy engine is the Peter Lynn Reactor or the Flexi Rage. Both built for strong pull going fast down low through the window and not to be
lifty overhead. Will go upwind better than the Beamer.

I'd like to see AJ try a Scorpion and compare to his Gorilla II.
The Scorpion is another easy to rig and fly kite once you get used to rigging and launching a twinskin inflatable. And that is not hard, just
different. With its great amount of de-power and adjustability, you can argue that it is the only kite you'd need for the buggy except for a large
fixed bridle open foil for 6-12 mph winds .
I have the 10m and might have been better off with the 13 now that I have felt the amount of de-power and can better understand how Pablo can hold
down a 16m in the bug.

I have flown the scrop and it is a great kite, just a lot more advanced settings than the g and p.The range on them is wide. I love the g for grunt
but love the p for speed through the window and range, For example i top out on the 18g at 22 on water but the18p still has 8 inches of depower
left.Have not had the chance to find the top of the 18p yet but soon as my ankle heals, i will be back out on the water.......aj

I think the wife needs a new Rage in the "Punk" color scheme Flexi is offering. So no one tell her that's what's going to be in the box...
Figger'd after getting me a couple toys... she needs one too. After all, kites don't make the best blankets for the couch. :frog:
