Bullet 4.5

Like Zolty said to me, (Try before you buy if you can!) Man I love my new Bullet but It is what it is. A traction engine! I got the kite to fly static and man what a work out! Scudding just is not enough any more its to much work:sniff: So before I get into a buggy or board to heavy I want to try another kite.In 20mph wind that Bullet wants to rip my arms off. I nedd something a little more floaty well thats it for now.In ending the bullet just was not what I needed for the flying I do.

That's getting interesting, most kites that float really nicely are 5m or larger, I get along nicely with my 5.5m Brooza, but I still wouldn't call it floaty, it doesn't drop you either though. The blade 6.6 or a new 6.5m are wicked jumping kites, but won't be recommended for you in those winds yet. the 4.9m blade is a monster but has earned the name "the widowmaker"

It may be time to start looking at depowerable kites if you really want to go high in stronger winds. I have had my 16m Scorpion out in 20mph winds and I must say, the pop and float are simply amazing, jumping really nicely by 15mph and I'm 250lbs. But it's not a low wind kite and it takes some getting used to the quirks and takes a bit to understand how the adjustments work to get the most out of it. They're not as cheap as a fixed power foil either. Possibly a used 10-13m Venom, or another depowerable foil, in those winds there's quite a few options.

At $200 I think some one is going to get a good deal. I paid that for mine with a minor repair from Real Kiteboarding ( 1 1/2 years ago ) on 2 lines and a cheapo bar. As you say it is a good kite for IT'S purpose. I new you would have fun with it + it was a good size for working things out on even if it wasn't what you were after.
I could sense right away that you had bought the wrong kite to scratch your itch. Fortunately for me I got the buggy shortly after the 4.5 Bullet and the 2 are a good pair. I chose NOT to try jumping with it and it wasn't ideal for snowkites or blades . To fill that hole I gambled on the Ace. It will do the job but I'm not sure it's the kite that you ( or I ) want.
Hold out for a Blade. I think you will be unhappy if you don't get one ! ( that's you, not every one )

You hit the nail on the head snowbird! Thanks. Pablo, Thanks for the thought but just the sound of 16meter scorpion scares me. Snow bird are you holding out for the blade also? Do you see anything else in my future? You pretty much got the rest right.

Dead in the middle between the Blade and the Bullet for lift would be the Brooza. They are a good freeride kite, ride real nice and stable, but won't keep up with the Blades raw power/lift. If you want to go big, save your pennies for as long as it takes.

The Scorpion is really a baby if you tune it right, pigtail extentions, steering set a bit soft, internal power strap all the way out and you get minimal pull. in 20mph winds I've flipped my buggy over and used it for an anchor while I took a 1/2 hr lunch break with the 16S flying happily at Zenith. I'd heard it was possible but wanted to prove it to myself all the same. They're wicked kites, but if the cost of a new Blade is a concern the Scorpion probably isn't in your near future.

Ahhhh Grass hopper, I see big foaty air in your future ! :wow:
You will be getting the airtime I am looking for BEFORE I do !
You will get more enjoyment from an ATB than a buggy ( + they transport SO much easier )
Soon you will not be afraid of Scorpians. You will want bigger and bigger kites.
You will take this sport to new levels and leave us old folks in the dust

I can be happy without owning a Blade ( although I'ld grab an 8.5 at a good price ) YOU CAN'T ! :smug:

Personally, I'm happy with what I have. I think about a 10m fixed bridle for lower ( boring ) winds and a 7m Phsyco 3 would be nice, but I'm not in a hurry.

I had a personal break through yesterday :tumble: I got out on the ATB and was in near complete control !!!! My BIG holdback has been a COMPLETE lack of any board sport experience. It's always been skis and blades. I almost turned away from the sport when I was having too much trouble with the surf board. Fortunately I found snow kiting was a natural fit + met up with Pablo and Kieth Kalio ( R.I.P.). They showed me that there are many ways to get around with a kite

I'm just thrilled to be living a childhood dream and have no expectations of being the best at any single form ( although being the only one on Coyotes makes me both best and worst around here :duh:) I plan to go full circle and take the ATB skills back to the surf. That and keeping myself in one piece are my goals. Looks like learning all skills is coming , keeping in one piece :puzzled: ??
