New Kite
Hi to all; I'm looking for a power kite that I can fly for the remainder of the season to use as a trainer for land boarding or maybe kite boarding.
Obviously I'll need another type of kite if I choose to kite board but that's down the road and besides, having one too many kites has never happened
to me. I have competently flown dual line stunt kites in the past but I would like to add a new dimension to my kite flying and thought this would be
a good avenue. I have talked to a few people and they have recommended to me that I look at the Ozone IMP Quattro or the HQ Beemer III. Both are
quad lines which would be new to me and sounds very interesting. So do any of these kites sound like a good starting point and what size should I
look at. If not what else should I look at?
BTW: I'm 5'11" 210lbs and my flying conditions around here are 5~15 mph and can be gusty at times.
Thx

Those are both good choices. I think you would want a 3 meter kite to get started. It will fly well and produce some usable power in your winds.
Smaller will fly but you won't get much of a feel for power with one.
Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.
Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

get a sheetable trainer if you're serious about proper learning for kitesurfing/kiteboarding.
a 2 line on a bar teaches you almost nothing.... a 4 line on handles is only a bit better, but a sheetable / depowerable trainer kite enables you to
learn exactly what its like on a larger depower kite : using your body weight, learning how/when to power up, relaunch, etc....
PM me for more specifics on what we can offer y'all.

Good info from all,,, I started out with the 3 meter Beamer III and I like it as you can see that I purchased two others since then. The price is
good and they seem to be very dependable.. All set up and ready to fly.

Thanks for all the replies. I believe that I'll look at two I had mentioned earlier and the Flexi Rage.
Joecat how is the wind were you fly, smooth, gusty, and how smooth of a flyer is the Beemer III? BTW what control system are you using with your
board?

My advice is to stay away from race kites. They do not do well in gusty winds. You might want to check out the pkd brooze that is getting passed
around the forum members. They do well in gusty winds and you can try before you buy.
Susan
PKD Brooza\'s 2, 3, 4 and 5.5 meter
Libre Bora\'s 6 and 7 meter
Libre stainless full race with standard and big foot light wheels
Nasa wings: npw5 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 1.7, 2.4, 3.1, 3.9, 4.8, 5.8, 6.9 meters
npw9 3.4, 5.3, 6.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10.0, 11.0, 15.0 meters

Hey NorthWest, I am located on the Jersey Shore, Wildwood, most of the time the wind is smooth and steady and the Beamer III handles real well.
They fly real nice. I had my 5 meter out last week and it was smooth, slow and powerful. As I said I like them, I have found and everyone says that
the Beamers that I have don't produce alot of Lift, which I am Not looking for, I have them for the static flying and more important to me is for
Buggying. My 2 and 3 meters kites of course move faster but still smooth.
My Kite Bag:
Montana 4 9.5
Beamer III 5 meter
Beamer 4 meter
Beamer III 3 meter x (3)
Beamer III 2 meter X (3)
Ted\'s Foils Pro-foil 1.5 meter
Van \"Black Widow\" Buggy
Peter lynn Big Foot Buggy
Blokart 4 meter sail
Ted\'s Foils Pro-foil 1 meter

Hi Joe
I am arriving in Wildwood crest tomorrow afternoon (monday) for about 5-6 days with family.
There is also Stephane, a guy from montreal, who will be there at the same time with his family. I am suppose to meet him. Stephane runs a small Kite
online shop in Montreal. He carries HQ powerkites for the winter, and Eclipse kites for the summer.
We might go kiting on the beach after 5PM if possible, or in Stone Harbor (inside the bay). I got that spot on kitebeaches.com
go see your PM, l left my cell

Hi Joe
Just got back from wildwood. I got your message on monday but I got there too late to go on the beach at craucus corner.
I went on that spot the next day (tuesday) around 4h30-5PM. Not enough room to landboard with the crowd, so I did some static with a 4m.
On wednesday, I went surfkiting to Stone Harbour. Not enough room there to landboard, but great spot for surfkiting. There were about 10 kiters over
there. It was blowing +20knots
amazing wind the whole week. is it always like that in august. last year I went in july, and I don't rember so much windy days???
may be see you next year.
cheers
Buzz

Thanks to all and I’ll let everyone know how it goes.

if your goal is to kitesurf, you'll eventually go with a depower kite. Closed cells like flysurfer can do the job on snow, land and water.

It has been a long time since I posted but better late then never.
The 3.5 Rage has been lots of fun and was a great choice as a beginner Traction Kite. Good power that deserved respect in the right wind but not so
much as you’re afraid to fly it for the fear of getting pounded by a rookie mistake. I have since bought the 4.7, and 2.5 Rage to add to my bag to
increase my wind range. As a little bonus I made a little extra purchase of a 2.4 Sting to get the wife into the sport as well. Makes it allot
easier to get out and fly when you can get the other half wanting to tag along.
Anyway, I’m off to the coast for a 2wk vacation in June so it should be a good time. Thanks for all the help
