Will a small Depowerable work in both these conditions...

I ride at an inland park that has notoriously crappy winds (av. 5-11mph, directionally changes, etc.). In these conditions, my bullet 4.5 is my kite of choice. I tried my bullet 7.0 one day thinking that it would give me more power, which it did, but on the landboard, the kite was just too slow through the window. I have an Apex 7.5 that will fly in these winds but can't even consider riding it with my landboard in these winds....two slow.

So my question is this....since I love the feeling of riding a depowerable kite, is there a depowerable kite that would work in this wind range and that is fast enough through the window (i.e. Access 4 or Cool2 6)?

Would these kites generate enough power through 'apparent wind' to pull a 220lbs guy over dirt and hard grass? I'd also like to use this kite at El Mirage (av 15-28mph)...Too scaried to use my Apex 7.5 in those winds and on that surface....I used to bend when I fell, now I just break:thumbdown:

Thanks.

thats quite a range.... 5-28mph.... and is very difficult for any kite to cover very well. you may need 2 kites....

for FAST kites, research the flysurfer Speed kites.... speed1 modified or stock speed2 have nearly everything you are looking for and much better safety.

or you could go with a Peter Lynn Scorpion... trickier to relaunch in light winds but excellent top end. plus the closed cell type will be more stable than open cell foils.

let me know if you want a hookup.

Yeah pz, I heard some good things about the speed. Not looking to spend that much....I already have the water portion of it covered,,,I know the speed can also be used on land but don't need that much power. Did you have a chance to fly the Cool2 or can you provide any feedback on flight characteristics? Thought about looking at the 4 or 6 along with the apex and access.

Thanks.
