new kite? what size
Hi im new to power kiting.
I recenly purchased a meteor 2.2m 2line para foil kite with an exit landboard.
The kite is fun i i think i mastered it quite quickly, but it does not pull very much even when you bring the kite to the max pull window. Wind speeds
were high in North Wales (rhyl beach) as they always are >20 mph i think. Despite this i didnt get pulled across the beach or even move when i got
on the mountain board at 45 degrees to wind direction.
I am now looking for a bigger kite but as i weigh 10.5 stone i am not sure what size kite to go for??? ? 3.5m 4m or 5m

Look at a 3-4 m four line. You'll be fine with it after your 2-line. 5 m is a bit much until you are used to it.
I went to a 4.5 m after my smaller 2-line and it was a bit much for me, and I'm 14 stone. It had a small useable wind range in which I felt safe
flying it (for a while). Trying to compensate by flying a larger kite in light air is actually tricky for a novice and would be frustrating, I think.
Good luck

Hey SRD,
If you have the money, i'd recommend a 2.5m or 3.5m Flexifoil Rage. They're brilliant kites if you ask me. I'm about 12-13stone, and about 6ft. I
started out on a 2.5 rage, and it haven't looked back!!!!

I agree with 5m1ff! I too started on a rage but i got a 3.5 and it is a great kite. so a 3.5 would be ideal. To landboard, a 4 line kite is easier to
use so look around, if a rage is to expensive then i probably advise a hq crossfire, around £170 for a 3.2. I have had no experience with this kite
but it looks ok.
Cheers,
Dan

Since you want to landboard and hope to get some good range with some pretty high winds you may want to look at a depowerable foil. Maybe something in
the 7m range.
Ozone access , Flexi Sabre , Flysurfer Pulse or possibly an arc from peter lynn.
These kites will turn out safer in the long run. Also give you the chance to jump . One of the main reasons folks shy from depower kites is that they
need more wind to fly right. It doesn't sound like that is an issue for you ! What do the locals fly ?????
Just another option for you to think about !
Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.
Flysurfer : 19m Speed 2 SA, 7m Pulse
Peter Lynn :18m Phantom, 15m Synergy, 10m Synergy, 1200 Farc, 460 Sarc, 130 Tarc, 5m Peel, 4.2m , 6.4, 8.5 C-Quads, 3.5 LS2 single skin.
Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

Thanks for the tips guys. Really helpful.
My budget is no more than £140 so i think a flexifoil rage is might be a bit out of my price range.
I was looking at : hq beamer2 3.6 m, ozone imp quattro 3.5m, pkd buster 3m, ozone fury 3m, flexifoil sting 3.3m
At present ive a good price 140 pounds for the hq beamer with bar.
two more qns then: should i go for that kite??
second- whats better- handles or go straight for bar??

I learnt on handles and i believe you get best control of the kite through handles. If youve got a local dealer, i would advise you to go try the
beamer with handles and then bar and then make the decision.

I am partial to the HQ Beamer III models. I started with a Beamer 3meter and now have a 2meter and 5meter Beamer. I would guess that a Beamer III 3
meter would be good for you. Just as an example,,, I was out today with my 2 meter in winds about 15 to 20 mph and that thing was pulling me
(scudding) 30 and 40 feet... I was pulling the kite through the window and was riding across the beach like I was sking doing figure eights and it
produced one giant scudd. Cool as hell. I think that would be pleanty of power for you to get start with. Of course they say that Beamers of this
model don't produce alot of lift but more traction. Good luck. And the price is reasonable too.
My Kite Bag:
Montana 4 9.5
Beamer III 5 meter
Beamer 4 meter
Beamer III 3 meter x (3)
Beamer III 2 meter X (3)
Ted\'s Foils Pro-foil 1.5 meter
Van \"Black Widow\" Buggy
Peter lynn Big Foot Buggy
Blokart 4 meter sail
Ted\'s Foils Pro-foil 1 meter
