How to stay strapped in...


I had the first go on the beach yesterday with a mountainboard (MBS 16 pro) and an Ozone 5m, and it was a blast!

One thing concerned me though, the sand made the the board a bit slippery and occasionally one or both feet would slip out of the straps. I quickly realized that having one foot strapped in is BAD NEWS. It seems like it's best to either have the straps pretty loose so that you just jump off the board in an emergency, or super-tight, but I don't know have to accomplish the latter.....any ideas?

what boots or shoes.....?


I realize that I don't even know what to wear on my feet, any suggestions?

In fact, the first thought that came to my mind after reading your first post was... are you wearing shoes? If not, you definitely should be. Just a pair of tennis shoes are fine and should help keep your feet in the straps without permanently fixing you to the board (not a good idea).

If you still have this trouble while wearing shoes, I suggest getting another board.

So I take it that you're not strapped in very tight then..? Doesn't one foot come loose occassionally when you jump or fall, creating a risk of hurting your other foot, with the board still attached to it?

If one foot where to come out while performing an air trick, you certainly could cause an injury if you did not shake off the board from the other foot and try to land square on two feet. But I have not experienced this problem myself.

Granted, others likely have more boarding experience than I (and I try to keep all wheels on the ground), but the boards I have used fit well and hung on tight enough to play around without slipping.

The quality of binding is important as well as using you leg and foot position to apply positive pressure to the board. Do not rely completely on the strap to do the work for you... use your legs to work with the straps to control the board.

I suggest practice time will answer most of your questions and I hope other avid boarders on this forum will add their opinions too.

i've had this problem a few times not to my amusment but i often wear skateboarding trainers but then you have the problem of your feet sliding out of your shoes. Another gd option is walking boots, the advantage that they have gd grip on the bottom and are usually big enough to stay in the straps.

hope this is helpful-ish but bit of a newb myself

One easy way to hold the board it to rotate your feet, either heels out our heels in depeinding on how your board is set up. this way you can be loose enough to get out, but tight enough when you want to hold on.
