Flysurfers are quality all the way.
I'm still working things out with my 10m P2 and found my upper limit ++ the other day about 35 km/h gusting to almost 50 :wow: One of my BIG mistakeS
was not sizing for the gusts !
I launched from the side and things were O.K. at 1st. I probably launched with the parking lot and a couple of trees downwind too close. Once I got it
up I set the depower a bit more a few good gusts came along and I was bouncing downwind like a puppet on a string trying to take advantage of the last
bit of depower. My Launch buddy ran over to help with ballast + I think a second fellow had just grabbed him when another gust hit. Both of us were
getting lifted and I decided to pull the pin and have the kite fall into the tree. That looked like the last truly safe option having lost my buffer
zone.
When I pulled the pin the safety line snapped :wow: Although it wasn't all that obviously worn and it seems like friction with the metal inside the
slide hole had been melting the line. It was part of the original lines and had seen a lot of salt water. Good news was we were safe. BAD NEWS is that
the kite took off , flew over the parking lot and was heading for the beach or river with the bar dangling behind. Good fortune saw it land safely on
the beach. Bad fortune, the person who got to it 1st or somehow in flight the bar went through the bridle I've been to busy to completely unravel it but 2 hours work and I'm not that close yet.
Lessons.
Give more downwind space than you think you need if it's available.
Size for the gusts. Don't expect depower to be endless.
Check your lines closely and touch them if you can . Specially at friction points.
Never Ever allow your bar to be thrown in with your bridle.
I love my Flysurfer but this messed up bridle thing sucks. To make it worse I have the FDS on it as well

Good to know that foil family's out there. Where I fly, nobody flies foils. Some people even hate my Flysurfers. I mean, first of all, they never
even tried it and second of all, it's my money, my kite, why do they care?
When I started, I had hard time to understand how foil works. Dumped the kite many times, got water in it, not knowing what I was doing wrong. I
knew my kites have potential but wish someone just told me what to do with the kites. Learned it hard way.
I just wanted to know how many foil family's out there in this forum. So, we can share experiences and knowledge. Even part! I ordered a bunch of
some extra parts, including pulleys, chicken loop lines, mixer balls, zipper sliders and some yellow lines (not sure what they called). So, if
anybody need parts right away but it takes time to get them, let me know. If I have it, I can loan you one and get it back later whenever.
Let's enjoy best of the best

Thats the exact quiver i was thinking of! Although i'm completely in love with my 10 and 13m psychos so i'd prolly keep them and get a 19m sa2 and a
small pulse
Ohhh the money we people spend... It's kind of rediculous when i think about having over 5000 dollars sitting in my closet!!! :karate:

a good thing about flysurfer:
2 weeks ago I went kitesurfing but there was only about 6-7 knots. the forecast was a steady 12 knots but it never happened.
ALl the LEIs were inflated and sitting on the beach.
With my pulse 10m, I had not enough to get going but I was the only flying my kite in the shallow water.
I wished I had a speed2 15m, or even better a SA2 19m

I was hoping in 2008 EVERY kite would be available in SA fabric. why reserve the skytex for just the speed kites? think about how cool a psycho3 10m
in skytex would be?

I've only ever flown it on middle WAC. I'm still trying to work out the best trim . ( See troubles above ) My approach is .... I launch with about 60%
depower and then trim out until I feel I have reasonable control on the back lines with the bar at mid rope.
I bought the Flysurfer more for the open spaces and snow. I seem to go to my fixed bridles in our small parks and so haven't gotten many hours flying
it yet I would guess only about 3 or 4 and a bit of that would be in wind too low
to keep it flying. I haven't had ANY kite up for 2 weeks Too much work and wet weather :sniff:
