time to upgrade

Hey everyone this is my first post, and sorry in advance as I'm sure a lot of these questions get asked.

I have been flying a Slingshot B3 for a while now, and I'm starting to get bored with it. I pretty much only go out in wind storms, because that's the only time it's interesting. I read Scoops Newbie guide, and I can "advanced" scud and jump, but only when the wind is very high. I'm 5'9" about 170-180 lbs. I'm a very serious snowboarder, but the kite will likely stay on the beach at all times.

So my question is: What kite would you recommend for me.

I was thinking of getting a Slingshot B4 or B6, but in Scoops Newbie guide, he does not name slingshots as being good for jumping, and that is an important part for me.

thanks

slingshot is well known for inflatable kites for kitesurfing.

I don't believe their foils (B2 and Ranger) are very popular. so you may not get reviews for these kites.

you should stick with good popular foil brands such as Ozone, Flysurfer, HQ Powerkite, Air-Evolution, Peter Lynn, Flexifoil, etc.... and many more

one thing for sure is these kite keep their $$ value

then you need to choose what type of kite you want: fixed bridles + handles, or bar + depower, aspect ratio (fast or stable)

stay tuned, you'll get a lot of suggestions here

I had a b6 and an b8 for a little while! hehe, silly little kites, fun for trying to learn unhooked stuff on though! Definitely not much lift in them, they are essentially trainer kites or beginner snow kites.

Jumping is fun, but you will probably soon get bored of it and want to start rolling/surfing which is where the real fun starts! I would go for a nice easy to use depowerable like an old peter lynn guerilla or something, they are SOOOO easy to fly and have amazing very floaty jumpability. The great thing is as well you can use them on land, snow, water, whatever, they're a closed cell thingy. I always recommend these kites to people wanting to learn fast, because they're so damn easy to fly and give you confidence so fast!

When you start getting really good you'll notice they're lacking a certain oommph which you might want to start doing more insane tricks and getting bigger airs, but they really are fantastic kites for anyone new to the sport right up to intermediate/good riders. AND if you can find a second hand guerilla or such like, they are cheap as hell! Try and find a 13m one!

You'll need a harness but you've been using a bar already on your slingshot i imagine so that would be easier. The best kite for just jumping around on land with though is probably the blade IV... depends what you plan to do!

My girlfriend got a guerilla 10m recently and loves it to bits, she got up and going on the landboard first time without any previous experience. I'm not kidding, i really think these are the easiest kites in the world to pilot because of the autozenith and i'm very surprised more schools don't use them...

if you're into snowboarding and snowkiting... steer away from inflatables... stick to foils.
