Buggie Spot in Ca..
Yes Buggie Brothers, I have found A spot in Nor Cal, that was ment for us!!! Im up here in Sonoma County, the town is Petaluma. Just south of me on
the 101, The town of Novato. It was the home of A WW2 Air Force base, now turned into $600.00.00 dollar homes. I just had to check it out, Nice and
big homes. 4 old hangers, and the tower are still standing. they mix well with the homes. Well with a little leg work, and asking some questions, i
found it!! A huge piece of taxi way, aircraft parking, and main runway are left. Untouched!!! im talking lots of Concrete, with huge winds!! plenty of
room for freestyle. Ive been out there for hours, and only seen a hand full of people. No cars, no power polls or power lines, heck, it was an airport
at one time. There is plenty of terraine to navagate. Ive been using this spot for a few weeks, and have not seen all of it yet!! Yesterday, Novato
Fire Dept. Drove past, well i past them, they all had thumbs up. I watched as they drove around. out there is way more concrete then i thought. Or it
could be dirt roads out there. I want to share this spot, with you all to enjoy. You shuld check it out!!!

Woo-hoo, Tangles! Sounds like there might be a good place to go visit, when it gets too hot down here on El Mirage!
I will definitely schedule a road trip to this location, and will write you so I can tap you as a "guide" first time out.
I've read many posts about abandoned airports used for buggying, but have never found one that put out the welcome mat. The opposite is usually
true... no kites allowed anywhere near 'em.
Congrats on your little bit o'heaven!

P.S. ...and thanks for sharing!

you in Monterey.
? is there a place to ride in some dirt, kind of hard to slide to rear end out on concrete for freestyle

Hamilton
Strings-
Dude! How do you get on the airport itself?! I went up there today( I live in Dublin) and I couldn't find my way on. Except for maybe just
jumping the wall by the hangers? It looks HUGE!! I drove all over... from the coast guard/ sheriffs training facility on the south to the
trailerpark/construction to the north. The only way I could see to get on the airfield was the gate to the sheriff facility, but there were tons of
'no tresspassing' and 'restricted area' signs. ( Although that didn't stop me from driving in for a second) I was worried
about them locking the gate.
So... is it still open? I'd like to check it out again; it looks like a place where you don't have to deal with rabid soccer moms. Shoot
me an e-mail with the secret! derbbb@comcast.net
Thanks, man.

Well, after doing some research, it looks like we'd better enjoy this place while we can... they're flooding it sometime in the next year or
two and returning the non-housing portion(runways, etc.) to it's wetland state. Bummer!
I was out there this week-end and it was a gas! Huge 9,000 foot runway; tons of taxiways and parking; some off-road possibilities(although the
little spiky %$#+!! weeds were annoying!) and good steady winds. The pavement is a little scary at first but at last my PL buggy was quiet!! Anybody
on the west coast( or at least within a couple of hours) should come and check out this gem while it's still around. Yahoo! If you're in the
neighborhood... derbbb@comcast.net

Hamilton Field, Marin Co., CA
Hey Power Kite People:
I met TangledStrings on his way to Hamilton Field after work today. When we got there we met up with gilligan. We loaded up our buggies and dragged
them out to the field. What a cool place this is! Concrete and asphalt taxiways and parking areas are all over the place. It's huge!
We didn't get around to much of it because the wind just wasn't cooperating. It's one of those things with this sport, no blow, no go. It's only and
hour and ten minutes from my place though. I'm definitely going back.

I found it, but there was no wind. from I 101S take Inacio exit, turn left over freeway and turn right on Nave then Left on hamilton. stay on
hamilton till you see big hangars. turn left to get to the tower then turn left into any parking lot you can so you can get to the Levee/wall and hop
over. you will see old tarmac. and hopefully there will be wind.
