LIVE TO FLY!

I have to start standing by this a little more! Live to fly not live to work!! I am so tired of waiting all weekend with no wind and then when monday morning comes 15-20 mph.It's bull@#%#!! Then I try to tell myself (Oh it will be windy all day). I am going to have a talk with our weather man.:mad: He is full of it! I am an Electrician and my job is not that demanding. I mean if I know there is a job we need to go on our I have prior commitments then ok. And I do have good work ethics. But you know what? I love my new sport and with the wind the way it is around here if you don't get it while the gettins good you not going to! Can a body builder get muscle without lifting weights? NO. Can a fisherman catch fish without water? NO. So you get my point? So the next windy morning during the work week my job will just have to wait! I have to get my fix on! I'm not talking all day just enough to say I got to fly today. My boss is cool and everyone knows I fly anyway. So thanks for putting up with my complaints and as long as I do what I say there should not be many more. LIVE TO FLY BABY!!:borg:

When i lived in LA i had the hook up :) I was doing graphic design for some high end furniture company which was pretty damn boring for me, so i told them, look, if you want me to stay, i'm gonna work 9-2 and then kitesurf all afternoon, otherwise, i'm leaving :)

It worked :thumbup::thumbup:

Was fun for a while, but LA got generally annoying and i was offered a good job at mtv here in new york so took it, now its bloody cold :) but im still able to get out woohoo

I'm also an Electrician. Maintenance at the power companies main office. I explained to my employer that I am an addict :o
Once he landed back in his chair I explained my addiction and we are cool :thumbup:

I work extra hours when needed to gain banked time. I can then slip out afternoons if things are quiet ! It's a good set up :smilegrin:

My shift is 7 - 3 so I get a good bit of time without sneaking out as well.

Good post S..38! Feel the exact same way...I work as an Analyst for Healthnet...very demanding...7:30am - 4:30pm, Mon-Fri..oncall once a week and work weekends if there's a new release (computer).

....so I try to fly on my lunch hour but the wind here is usually soo bad, it doesn't happen. Then I get either Sat or Sun to go...if there's wind at the beach, I'll go kitesurfing, if not, I'll go to El Mirage. But lately, there is not been enough wind at the beach (not on the weekend, anyway) and last weekend I got skunked at El Mirage,,,but on Monday it was 14-16 and Lancaster was 28-33...Geez, must have pissed off the man upstairs or something!

I still remember the days when I was working at Disney...3 days a week at nights..I had 7 days a week to do whatever I wanted...was at the beach surfing constantly (before I got into kiting)...remember thinking at the time,,,I have the best job in the world!

Money or Kiting...No brainer for me...Give me more wind!

Thanks guys. I am glad to see I am not alone and don't have to feel so harsh about work. Snowbird I did the same thing just explained my addiction and you know what? my boss was totally cool about it.:yes: He even said he would like to go with me to watch some time. To bad I can't figure out a way to get him to fly because he weighs about 450lbs!:wow: Not saying it can't be done but...:wow:
