Flysurfer Silverarrow2 19m

Anyone use this kite and tell much about it? I'm thinking of the winds that are located here, I might get this 19m.

When does this kite get uncontrollable in what wind speeds?

Does this have the better fds system rather then the fls system?

Is it very good for hangtime like the blade iv 8.5?

Does it have enough control and turning speed to kiteboard, waterboard and snowboard?

How does it water relaunch?

How good is the skytex 27 material?

Thanks a lot guys,
John

Hey John,

You may want to post this over at foilzone - lots of 19m SA2 users over there.

leebrianh and I have one (that I know of here).

I'm off to fly now, but I'll write back later. It's a phenomenal low wind kite.

Joe

I just read this post. Let me see if I can answer your questions:

1. Wind Speed. In my case, I am over powered over 15mph. I weigh 150lb. But this is my first year kiting and I am sure you can hold more with more experience

2. FDS (5th line). I prefer FDS. I installed it on mine

3. Hangtime. Awesome! Not fair to compare with BladeIV 8.5 due to size difference

4. Turning Speed. Slow but what can I say? It's 19M!!! Good for kiteboarding but I found too dangerous for landboarding. Looking to use it in snow this winter.

5. Water re-launch. Compare to its size, it's fairly easy. Never thought it is too difficult to relaunch unless you don't have enough wind - probably sub 5mph.

6. Material. Surprisingly, it's strong. I didn't abuse it but there were a few times I thought I tore it up. It came out without any damages.

Hope this helps. - Brian

I have had some fantastic light wind sessions with the 19m SA2

It has saved the day several times. If you can get it airborne - there is a really good chance you can ride on land. (I've only used it on land/snow - no water yet)

The amount of depower is really impressive. It’s easy to launch/land by yourself and it packs up really small. It also turns pretty quick for a kite that size.

The 19m is probably overkill for me (160 lbs), however I was able to ski the other day in 6 - 7 mph winds and when it picked up to 10 mph, the jumps were sweet

I absolutely love the Skytex - it just hovers above when there is a lull. I don't understand why the other companies don't use it - perhaps it's the high cost.

That's about the only downside of the SA2 - It's darn expensive :o

Had another awesome session with the SA2 today.

Winds were around 10 mph, 4" of fresh snow and 80 acres of farm land to play on

I traveled 17 miles total and my top speed was 28 mph.
Great day...

You are a lucky man! I have a packed up depowerable kite that's waiting for its for unfurling and I have nowhere to go with it. Maybe the *bleeping* beach tomorrow.

Yeah - I felt lucky. This was my first time at this field. It's just down the road from my house. The farmer gave me permission to use it this winter for snow kiting. I'm pretty psyched :D

Geez, I get excited when I've got 100 yards of open dirt in front of me and no soccer players : (..
