Just an idea in my head right now, but I mocked up on the floor of Home Depot.

Great idea, but it would weigh a ton and I would think costly by the time you got enough pipe and fittings.

I estimated around $60 after I got home so I was going from memory. 2' pipes were going for about $5, and fittings averaged 2.99.
I have a CAD sketch on my school computer. I'll share it later. (Its pretty, in 3D and all.)

Just quick question......how are you going to finish off that last corner? Or is that going to have to be a non threaded fitting?

How about going to 21/2" hard copper pipe and soldered fittings. Eliminate corrosion problems, except for the steel bits. Should be strong enough.
Just need to be careful not to anneal the pipe when soldering the joints.
S
Is it possible to design for strength, if the designer doesn't really understand what strength is?

That is exactly what my buggy is........look at the pic on popeye's page....#106 its on my tag....any way its a heavy buggy but I love it.........but
you definitely must weld it together after assembling it because there is no way to tighten one nipple thread between two fittings that are attached
to other threads ....you tighten one and the other loosens.....so you have to set it as tight as you can in the shape you want and then tack and
weld...however....welding this thing together was very easy....and it was my very first welding project...super fun....I can send you the plans if you
want......
