Mac Bego 600

Okay, so I've heard this is one of the best kites for low wind, correct?

What type of 'low wind' are we talking about? Just curious. I'm assuming its a 6m kite... by low winds do you refer to the same ones I take my 10.5m Blade out in? I have a hard time believing that.

Thanks:spin:

I have an 8.5 blade III and looked at the 600 and own a 400.

I have been told the 600 is comparable to the 8.5.

But I've also been told the 10.5 offers very little over the 8.5 because what it gains in size it looses in speed and weight.

But I've only flown the 8.5 and I don't weigh enough to bother with a 10.5.

But those begos are super efficient with a very light sail but because of their high A/R, they don't handle the lulls too well if you are moving (static is a different story).

My bet is the 600 would get you going in the same winds as the 10.5 assuming you aren't too heavy. The 600 will be faster and quicker to inflate but likely not have the same amount of raw power as the 10.5.

Again, though, I speak not on first hand experience only from how I know the 400 and the 8.5 fly.

I think Tridude and DaVinch have owned all the kites in question.

They should be able to help you if they respond.

I really enjoyed the Bego 600

Fantastic kite with plenty of lift and feels so light because of the Skytex.

And...you have to love those crazy color combinations they went for

It does well in low winds, but your 10.5m Blade III has it beat.

After flying Pablo’s 13m PKD Century (crazy power in almost no wind), I would go for a large race kite for my next fixed bridled kite

The light skytex used on the begos is great for low wind performance. That and the inlet stiffners allow air in for inflation/flight. Id give the Bego 600 the nod in low winds. Not sure why I sold it a darwin moment I assume!

Thanks for all the replies people :)

Tridude: so you'd give the bego the 'nod' over the blade?

For low wind performance yes the Bego 600. For lift, the Blade IV 6.5. Keep in mind you need to tune the Bego but once its dialed, sweet kite. If you can find a 600 you wont be disappointed.
