What gear is best for sandy beach with lots of puddles?

Does anyone have any experience with what type of land board/scooter/skates/buggy/etc. would be best for use on a large flat firm sandy beach which is two-thirds covered with shallow (2 to 10 cm, 1 to 4 in.) puddles filled with seaweed? Also any kite suggestions? (I currently have an Airush water kite and board) I'm curious as to whether any of the various land kiting gear can travel upwind easily or whether land kiting is just a downwind sport?
thanks for your help,
Brian

Hey Brian,
All forms of land traction can travel upwind (short of kite jumping or scudding). Buggiers and kite skaters sail across beaches and multi-terrain surfaces upwind, crosswind, and downwind at speeds up to 60mph.

I use a Libre race buggy in addition to the kite skates featured on doomwheels.com. You can find instructions to build your own kite skates here:

I have not seen many mountain boards on the sand, but if you have a nice firm surface, boards should work fine too.

Quadrifoil Competition X-foils are my preference. They are powerful high performing foils.

Everyone has their personal favorite kite. I recommend trying several kites and pick the one that feels best to you and provides the most efficient, controllable power. Quad-line foils work best for land use.

Check out the Learn to Kite Skate section of doomwheels.com for an insight to land traction:

There is also an extensive photo and movie gallery on the site.
