10 meters of ripstop will brighten anyone's day!

In my excitement I unfolded it (as we all do), admired it, folded it back up and packed it away and FORGOT TO TAKE PICTURES! I'll post some when we head out to the snow for the first time. Even if it's just to the field out back to set it up.

The Helmet cam came too so we'll be having twice the fun next time out!

Contrats! Which color scheme did you opt for?

I've got an 8m on order in the orange/white/grey. I almost went with the Rasta because I figured it wouldn't show dirt as much, but I decided on the orange at the last minute.

What harness are you going to use with it?

Same - Grey White Orange. GlideGuy on this forum has an Ozone in those colors and it's a gorgeous looking kite. Of course...I've always been fond of the color orange ; )

I've thus far been using a climbing harness / pulley setup to fly on handles but did manage to pick up a MauiSails waist harness and spreader bar. Trouble is I got it sized for summer fun so it'll be mighty snug over my winter gear. If it's too uncomfortable I'll just hook the chicken loop into the 'biner on the climbing harness and test the release to make sure it'll work just the same. I'm sure it'll be okay - I heard that the actual Ozone snowkite harness has a d ring, not a hook.

My main complaint about it. Feel to constrained. I don't plan on riding unhooked anytime soon, but I'd still feel restricted.

Waist harnesses do get annoying riding up, but I'm loving mine, its cozy.

Is this your first venture into depower? I'm just getting into that world too, took my Speed out on my own for the first time today.

Sure is. I will only believe it when I see it but I was shocked when the dude at the shop told me the wind range for it was 5-25MPH. It seems too good to be true. Trouble is, I've really got on well learning how to fly handles and love the control so I'm hoping the depower doesn't behave too doggish for my expectations of a kite. I know it'll be less responsive - I just hope it's not TOO less responsive.

This weekend I was flying with a friend. He had the same access. Winds only got up to 5-7 kts. As the wind slowly got up to that pathetic speed it was interesting. The Access would fly with just a couple of kts. The blade only if you coaxed it up and flew the crap out of it. At about 4-5 kts the Blade would stand up and take off with no input producing usable power right away. The Access didn't produce power until more like 7 and then just enough to ride. The Blade was just powered enough that I could set it and ride at 7. It's a GREAT kite but don't expect too low a bottom end !
We were both on skiis with about 1ft of Pow !

Kites: 2.5m Profoil , Quadrifoil XL kitesurfer, NPW 5 Danger.
Flexifoil: 1.7m Sting, 4.9m Blade 3, 9m Blade 2.

Rides: Flexi / P.L. Frankin'Buggy , Shaped + straight skiis, sand skis, Coyote blades. Core 95 ATB. RKB R2 ATB .

I used to own an access 8m in 2006 winter. It was a good kite to learn snowkiting.

15knots was about the minimum on skis to have real fun for me at that time even I was beginner. I could ride below that but felt underpowered, and needed to sin the kite too much. but the access is not a kite with big low end as snowbird said it. I think the focus of this kite is easiness of kiting.

So 1 month later, I had bought a Frenzy 12m :-) big truck.

So I guess the Access 10m is probably a good size for the winter average man weigth (175).

Good thing with the access: easy to resell. I even made some profit last year reselling an access 4m.

It turns out that just 8m will brighten your day as well. I just picked up my crispy new Access XC and couldn't be more pleased. What a beautiful kite. And this thing is huge. I thought 5m was a big kite, but I couldn't even get this one unrolled on my living room floor. The 10 must be absolutely massive.

The new Dakine Harness with the orange piping looks pretty darn good with it too. That's just a happy coincidence though.

I haven't flown it yet, but the new Ozone chicken loop and primary safety release look like really great quality. They look very easy to use and reload. I can't wait to get out with this thing. Hopefully tomorrow.

I'm a bit nervous just because I don't have any experience flying on a bar so besides stepping up to a much larger kite I'm going to have that to deal with. I'm supposed to get a quick lesson on setting it up tomorrow so that will help. Also, many thanks to snowbird for posting that great Ozone tutorial video. Very helpful.

Nice pic NH. Remember to keep tension on your rear lines . As you work the edge of the window and turn, pull the bar in. Once she redirects, bar out and she speeds up back thru the powerzone to the opposite edge, repeat turn sequence. Also, learn to fly her from 10 to 12 and 2 to 12 oclock, sineing the kite up and down while milking the bar in and out. If your winds are down depower your XC using your clam cleat so she will lift off and fly faster thru the window. Youll have it down in no time! Again, sweet lookin machine!
