Does anyone know if you can get a buggy on a plane? Is there a weight limit? I was going to see if I could fly to vegas instead of driving 8hrs. one way. But if I cant take my bug with me to NBAX whats the point. Thanks. I can find out but I thought I would ask here first. Ya know it keeps my posts up

I just got a notice that United is getting stickier with what they will check. They would take skis and surfboards. It probably depends on the size that you can squeeze it down to and the weight. They want to keep baggage under 50 lbs. They will take almost anything, but it could cost you extra. Best bet is to call the airline and ask about their baggage policy or start by checking it online. It's pretty hard to get a buggy by them. You should weigh it and pay the fee. You don't want to end up going to prison instead :wink2:
I'm leaving the bug at home and just taking blades + board.

We lucked out and got $79 tickets each way.

Maybe Dlish would take a movie stars buggy along with him ?

yea try to be legit about it cause how bad would that suck if you got it their and had problems getting it back on.

I did set up a 2.5m Cult as a demo, and last monday, it was blowing about 25mph west, the kite had plenty of speed and it was very stable.

So Looking at your quiver you might want to pick up some 2m or 3m kites from pkd/ozone/jojo, you won't need a race kite to go fast, but it'll help.
I do have a Blaze 3.0, it doesn't cut it, I think its hanging back because we flew it in 20+ winds and the bridles stretched. I like the bridle material on the cult, jojo rm, yakuza.

Hit up Pablo or Ellis for JoJo or PKD. I've got some 2.0m Ozone Cults on sale I could cut loose

So bring them with you. Maybe fly before ya buy? If I like them then I can get one when I get back Home.

as for buggies on planes.

I never had a problem with my PL Buggy on a plane, since its smaller than there requested dimensions and weight. So, PL Buggies = No Fees.

A good thing is putting your buggy into a Hockey Bag or Travel Bag (which I'm doing this year). I'm just hoping that I dont have to pay the extra charge this year trying to get my 70lb Full Race to NABX.

i traveled for years with the PL folder in a standard sized suit case for years. i was able to get the whole buggy in with wheels and tires and get it in just under the 50 lbs limit. i would carry my kites on board with me. i have since left a buggy with a friend of mine and just pay her to transport my buggy to nabx. it just makes it so much easier.
yes corey is in charge of the buggy naked pins. but you just can`t buggy naked and ask him for the pin. there are rules that you have to follow. ask him about the details.

It's best to check with the airlines, rules are changing all the time. I flew with buggies all over the place as "sporting goods" and never had a problem - a couple of times had to pay a little more when taking a bigger buggy. But a couple of years ago when taking a PL bug and kites to the UK on Air Transat they had a list of sporting goods, I explained what it was, the supervisor at Toronto looked in the bag and said that's not sporting goods and charged me 150.00 to take it and walked away (what are you going to do when your at the airport already).
I left the buggy in Scotland as a spare when I go back there and brought 3 kites home - again at Glasgow airport they looked at a list and said it's not sporting goods. Finally when I said it's close to a paraglider that was on their list they agreed and charged me 50.00 pounds (100.00 CDN) to bring the kites home.
Now Air Canada wants you to specify what your sporting is when checking in and they only have so many options - we picked golf bag and will hope for the best - maybe paying a bit more for the length and weight.

Last option, ask if the plane has a roof rack.

This may be late but just wanted to let y'all know I have transported standard PL buggies on planes in a hard sided golf case like this>

Disassembled it with standard tires stacked deflated at the large end and all other parts fit easily in the long case.
Had no problems or questions when checking it in.

Not sure if the larger/longer buggies will fit.
