Yeah I live in Chandler actually and there are some spots to fly here, decent wind conditions too. There is a sports complex, Tumbleweed Park, on Arizona Avenue and Germaine Rd with the size of about 2 football fields side-by-side. I've also landboarded in Mesa at the Hohokam Stadium where the Cubs play, they have an open soccer field there. I know that someone posted a pic of a field in Scottsdale probably around Scottsdale road and Frank Loyd Right. The main thing that you will find in Arizona are the sports complexes and parks with soccer fields and football fields, those might be your best bet. When are you coming in?

Power Kites in Chandler Arizona.

There are several of us that powerkite at Thude Park, which is near the intersection of I-101 and Galveston in Chandler Arizona. It's a very large retainment basin park on the east side of 101 between Chandler Blvd and Ray Road. We occasionally jump at Pecos Park near Chandler Blvd and 48th Street.

Tumbleweed sounds even better since it's flat with no shelter for prevailing winds. This weekend we're going to RockyPoint to experience the clean steady engine wind of the beach.

Some of the kites we have there are: Pansh Ace 5 and 8, Pansh Blaze 5, Ozone Cult 4.5, Blade IV 4.9, and a new 2008 Crossfire II 5.0 on the way. Many times we have a group of beginners we teach using a Slingshot B3, and then they move on to the Pansh Blaze or Cult 4.5 which are two stable (not so lifty) kites.

It's not unusual on a windy day to see 4-5 kites up at once.

I brought out the Ace to Thude tonight, and there was a Blaze 5M and what looked like a Flexifoil Sabre 9.5 meter (with a board). The winds were up and down from about 6-12 mph, but the next two nights forecast 10-11mph. Friday shows 20 mph winds!

If the winds are low, then anywhere like Tumbleweed or Picos would be better flying conditions out in the open. The wind is so dirty down in the bowl, and there were a few gusts that picked up the no-lift Blaze 5-6 feet.

No doubt was Thude way bigger than tumbleweed. The only problem was that it's located down in the ditch so all I was getting that day was very dirty wind. I would like to fly there when the wind is +20mph to see what it does. Tumbleweed is definitely smaller but you have a lot cleaner wind.

Also, to the guy who was taking pictures that day. Did you happen to get some of me? If so, could you send some of the pics to jon@curlindustries.com?

Yeah, I know what you mean about the dirty air. I went to 30m lines on my blade 4.9 to try and help. That was Mike, I will ask if he got any of you, I don't think he's on this forum.

I am probably going to move to Phoenix/Scottsdale area soon within a couple of month. Are these advices good for a buggy as well or mainly boards?

I found in this forum a guy called "jonesing4wind" who back in 2004 said he been buggying in Phoenix for 3 years. Not sure where though

Since I will come from Europe it would be good to know if I should bring it or sell it?

Thx

Rocky Point would be great for buggying. It's only 3.5-4 hr drive south to the beach. I'm sure there are other good spots too.

Feel free to add in any other spots to the localKitespots.com Arizona map. Thanks!

I added Monterey Park in the east valley for anyone over on our side of town. Not a bad little place to do some kiting/landboarding.
