With winter coming to an end here and the City safety department running "Stay off thin ice" ad campaigns I've started to shift thinking from the snow covered lake to the interim season where I can't hit the water without hypothemia setting in but can't snowkite anymore. I've ordered a set of Rollerblades off eBay to convert into Doomwheels but have been looking a lot at mountain boards - what's a cost effective way onto a board and what size should it be?

Regardless, in both instances my trouble is space. If I manage to get back on the skis yet before the season is out (I intend to) I want to see what the smallest space I can have fun in is, still being able to get back upwind to where I started. To this point I'm a bit of a cruiser so to get back upwind to where I started is a snap (because I travel out a good kilometer before turning back for home). I wonder what sort of spaces are acceptable / sane to play in, provided they are free of people / obstacles. Also, am I missing something by forcing myself to always finish where I start from (ie, making sure I get back upwind)?

Try and get a hold of Wolf Wolfee He's an Ex from the area in Winni' now. He had some good spots.
