New to power kites.

Hi,

My name is Matt and yesterday I got my first quad line power kite - a Beamer III 3.0. I've flown single line kites for a long time and finally took the leap to quad line. I've been lurking for about a week and this seems like a great place, and it even looks like there are some enthusiasts in Georgia, although the other side of the state.

Since I decided to buy the Beamer, I donated most of my single line kites to my nephews, but kept my HQ Downtown Delta for when I don't feel like getting worked over, so that puts two kites in my quiver, with only one of them being a power kite.

When the winds are not blowing, I enjoy working on building my experimental airplane - a Van's RV-7, or I go flying with my friend in his J3 Cub.

I'm looking to learn more and explore this sport and have some fun. If you'd like to know anything else, please feel free to ask, as I won't hesitate to do the same for you!

Good choice on the BIII 3m. Just ask BeamerBob here on the forum and also North GA. Kullas is relatively nearby, too.
I have fond memories of my time in a J-3, J-4 and Supercub. I was an A&P abut 20 yrs ago.
If you get down near the coast, look me up and we'll go to for session on the beach.

Welcome Dax,

You can't go wrong with the B3 3m. There are others that might be equal but no one ever says they regretted buying one. I'm over in Augusta, so we'll have to get together to fly sometime.

Thanks for the welcome.

acampbell - I've got a buddy who's got a cabin on Hird Island near Darien - I'm going to try to get down that way soon to visit. Also - I'll be in Kingsland on Memorial Day weekend.

BeamerBob - I get out that way every once in a while - I'm game for meeting up some this summer if you know some good places to fly.

Yes, U2U sent. I have the soccer field and the 1/4 mile long field behind a Kroger. Aerial recon is fantastic. Well, virtual aerial anyways.

Steve - you're in the ST. Pete area?! I'm going to be in Madeira Beach in June (15-21) - this upcoming trip prompted the purchase of my kite! We'll definitely have to hook up while I'm there! U2U sent!

So it sounds like there are enough GA members to get a meet going one day. Of course, I'll need a few months to brush up on my skills!

Skills? All you need is some duct tape to make sure you don' t let go. You'll figure it out. (that's what BeamerBob did to me anyway)

If we don't get some more Iowa kiters I just might have to move down south. It would suck to leave the sod farm, but it's just no fun with no friends to share your run!:singing:

I guess I shoulda taped your fingers together so you can't type either. You make fun of my training techniques but just look at you now. A full blown junkie. Makes me proud.:bisou:

I didn't have my duct tape with me this day. Otherwise the training would've gone much faster.

Remember, BeamerBob, that in that picture, chicks were digging ME, and my cool Bat Kite with bloodshot eyes was WAAAY higher than your cinderella kite with the pink streamers.
