Dagon's new top speed
I had an awesome day at ocean beach today. Wind was 18-35mph and I clocked in a new top speed at 48.8 mph. my previous record was 39.8. I
consistently was rolling at well over 40mph all day long. Total distance was 38 miles. The wind was a bit off angle so the speed runs I could only do
in one direction then it was a slower drag up the beach against the wind.
I was flying my 2 m samurai all day and at the end I landed the kite and then launched it and it pulled me up in the air and landed me about 15 feet
from where I was standing, I decided it was time to head home after that.:o

yeah, the GPS makes it fun, gives you personal records to break. I think I was only going that fast for about 2 seconds.

I dont think I will break that speed record on the playa, I feel very confident on the sand. If I wipe out at the beach the sand will not peel off
layers of flesh the way playa will, but who knows, maybe all it takes is a lot of protective gear to make me feel confident

dlish89 ....I am giving it a custom paint job and I have sewn some new rail covers....but they are a bit tight so I must add a bolt of fabric to them
to widen them about 1 inch to lessen the strain on the velcro.....I'll throgh some progress pics up on another thread.....

I thought i saw you yesterday on the OB webcam but i didn't go but my buddy who was surfing yesterday and who live 2 blocks away from the beach told
me how windy it was and saw a blue-colored kite going back and forth like crazy on the beach...for a moment he thought it was me.

Ok, I did break my record on the playa. Yesterday on sunday the winds picked up and were blowing 22-30mph. I used my new 3m JoJo RM+ in my V-max and
hit 50.0mph!!. I would have gone for more but I was running out of tread on my tires, next year I will get some 4ply slicks, and probably bring an
extra set. sliding over that playa really takes off some rubber.
Awesome year at nabx. Now I am in the 50mph club with Popeye.

Good to see you out there Dagon. Congrads!
I hit 40.5 mph in my little PL bug with regular axle and my 3.0 M Beamer III. It was my best fit for the gusty winds and felt pretty safe with the
kite, but not so much with the bug. I could have pushed faster but the rattling of the PL was getting disconcerting. Had I dropped a foot from a peg
I would have been toast (with jam).
Next year I find a way to get a bigger heavier bug out there.

Dam! I knew you would break it! That was on sun. right? I left early afternoon. And going over the pass was windy as hell. I knew you guys would be
getting some serious wind later that day. I should have stayed to see that congrats! I will hit 50 next year.

yeah, wind on sunday was great. which I did not expect, every sunday at nabx, I sit around until 4pm then I have to leave to catch a flight, but this
year the wind started up at about 1pm and was blowing hard. If you want to hit 50 thrasher, you should get a wide axle buggy, going 39 in a your
buggy would scare the crap out of me. you could get a wider back axle to make it more stable.

I guess going that fast...which I have never done..... is probably easier on the playa....I imagine you would just go for it....but honestly...doing
48 plus on a public beach that has hazards like rocks and people, dogs, ...turning... etc....that is impressive.......you have mad kahunas my friend
