Since no-one else has put up a review yet, I thought I would. I would like to review the Macpara Bego series of kites, particularly the 600.
The bego comes in a normal drawstring stuff sac with the kite only. The quality of the kite is second to none.
After attaching a lineset, and adding brake line tensioners, you are ready to go. It takes a bit of brake line length adjusting, but once you get it
right, this is one of the most impressive 6 meter foils on the market.
Flying-
The bego has leading edge opening stiffeners. There are small pieces of clear plastic that hold the holes on the front of the kite open. In the
lightest of breezes, the kite sits up and begs to be flown. The kite will fly in as little as 2mph of wind. It starts making power in as little as 4
mph. Launch the kite in anything over 8 mph and you will recieve a nice small lift when the kite gets to the zenith. (Most people, I weight 300lbs.
its takes about 11-12 for me to get involuntarily lifted) Most people can fly the kite up to about 15 mph before it gets too scary. I can fly mine
almost up to 20, but even parked overhead, it will drag me along, toes just barely touching. Thats scary.
One thing I love about this kite is how smooth and controlable the power is. It doesnt jerk at all, just constant smooth usable power. It flies as
fast as some smaller foils, and will turn on a wingtip quite easily because of the riff-raff. (a small ring on the trailing edge that pulls the
wingtip in when you apply the brake)
All in all, for the price, you cant beat the kite. Buy from a reputable kite shop that knows what they are doing, and you will get it setup before it
ever hits your doorstop.
