Opinions? should I do it?

Or is this just over kill....photoshop fun

this is the current state

and I was thinking about extending the width of the back axle to six feet
\

and throwing on duals....

should I?

hey Weldngod...do the dual rears on your green machine really help anything....would they lighten the load on soft sand?

You could always make another axel put it on and if you don't like it swap it back out. Or have both for what ever riding you wanted to do that day. I would think big foots would be easier than running duallys. I was told les schwab can get big foots for about $50 a piece.

Hey Art, I used Twin barrows in the rear cause I load my bug w/ cooler of brew and ice ,kitebag full of gear. It's a bit of a walk through soft sand . So I use duals to disperse the weight over more area. The downside is ,Twice the weight, twice the rolling resistance,A little more wind drag. On the upside ,The day I ripped a wheel off the hub,I didn't have to drag it back on two wheels. My new bug will have bigfoot type tires on alum.rims from golf cart.

I have a pair of club car 4 bolt hubs off of a front end a buddy gave me.They have tapered roller bearings just like your car. I cut the axles off and welded them to stainless plates that I bolted to my rigid aluminum axle

That's interesting. I live about 6 miles from Clubcar's mfg. plant. I wonder if I could scavenge some parts there?:wow:
