First True Flight with Landboard

So this weekend i had my first true experience flying my beamer 3 with my landboard. I have had it out a couple times but not like this weekend! since my kite is small i haven't had much speed. This weekend it was pretty dang fast more like 25mph-30. It was AWESOME! so, I have one question, it's a noob question but i'm not sure of how to explain it so i'm going to draw a pic. here it is:

The pick didn't turn out great, hopefully u can read it. haha.
The green is my desired back and forth i think? So i was able to get pulled across the park i was at but i got to the point of where the wind was going I couldn't figure out hwo to go backward?/upwind? is there any trick to it? or is it generally hard to go back the way you normally don't go? Haha, whatever help would be awesome. i know it's confusing. Thanks :P

Where you finished - did you power out or just stop and celebrate? If you stopped and celebrated - rightly so. If you powered out, chances are you were trying to cut to hard upwind for the wind / forward seed you had. Also and estimate on how fast you think you were rolling would help. Of course someone more in the know will be much better to answer. I'm not one to talk - I find I'm forever edging just that little bit too much and powering out but am slowly learning - your post will help me too so thanks in advance.

Seems like you did well first time out, a little upwind action. It is harder to go upwind, you just have to learn how to work the kite, and I always end up leaning a lot more against the board. The kite seems like its flying right in the power kone, when its actually at the edge of the window. If i start to lose power, i just steer the board a bit more downwind.

It also helps me to get going if the kite is higher in the window (near zenith). I read that crosswind tracks (the green arrow in your drawing) are the easiest to get down.

Just keep on doing it, and the learning curve is amazing. Happy Kiting.

Awesome advice thanks a lot! yeah i guess i just have to play around with it some and see if i can get myself goin' in those crosswinds. and to answer your Question macboy I actually stopped because i was outta room and then totally celebrated because i felt like i was SCREAMIN! i'm not sure how fast i was going to tell you the truth but i felt like i was goin pretty dang fast.

hehehe

I was going to ask you about your field and your obstacle avoidance plans - the field by my place is littered with baseball backstops with benches flanking either side. Four in total but if you're careful - a lot of room left to play in.

I often find myself "out of room" :singing:
