June 14 - 15 - 26th Annual Rogallo Kite Festival - Jockey's Ridge State Park (mp 12.5), Nags Head. The Rogallo Kite festival, presented by Kitty Hawk Kites, will continue honoring Francis M. Rogallo, NASA scientist and inventor of the Flexible Wing. This two day festival will feature our signature kite flying on the dunes of Jockey's ridge as well as nightly entertainment celebrating the history of kiting. Throughout the two day festival, there will be exhibitions and demonstrations including stunt and power kite lessons, free children's games and activities, and much more!

June 28 - 29 - Kitty Hawk Kites Kiteboarding Competition - Kitty Hawk Kites Kiteboarding Center (mp 15.5), Windmill Point. Come see some of the best kiteboarders in the world. I would love to, but That is the beginning of Cobia season.Until about the end of july then I quit fishing for em'.Only kite I'll be watching will be a fishing kite.

I was at the Rogallo Kite Festival last year and would love to go back this year but this year the funds are a little low and with gas almost $4 a gallon its going to be hard to make a 12 hout trip

Sounds like a good family trip. Might have to pack up the cameras and the family and take a ride down there for the Rogallo Kite Festival.

That ware I got hooked you can try out lots of kites. I be setup under the purple soccer legs (My sisters new toy) it should pretty easy to spot

Haha Id rather mess up a kite of my own trying to learn than somone who I dont know at all...lol.

my sister has done far worse hear at home then you could ever do on Jockey's Ridge it will be fine. :frog:

the first power kite I ever touched was thare last year. It was khk demo 5m Beamer I think

So you got hooked that fast huh? Ive wanted a power kite for a few years but never really followed through with it. Then after flying my stunt kite this past weekend I decided I want to be a little more, how should I say, involved with the kite

watching the wind so good so far low to mid teens both days:singing: Starts at 10:00am both days i will try to get there early to setup. Hopefully ill git in 4 days of non stop kiting and buggying :tumble::singing::singing::tumble:

I might come out on Saturday. What time are you planning on getting there? Do you know if there's and admission fee?

My plans for going tomorrow fell through. I was gonna go with my buddy but now he has to work so...Hope you guys have a good time.

spent 2 days on the dunes of Jockey's Ridge met several PKF members and learned a lot about my kites. An all around good long weekend

Sat: winds were light,smoky,and shifty.
I had all 3 of my foil kites staked out when the wind spun 180 deg. turned my 6.5m in to a major rats nest and my 2 in to a minor one luckily I managed to untangle the 2m by the time _________ and some other friends arrived bringing some better wind with them.:singing:

Sun: strong wind little to no smoke
6.5 was still a tangled mess so i kept to the smaller 2. I shortened the lines on my Symphony by 1/2 for lack of space it still flew grate with a little less pull. The clean winds gave me an opportunity to really experience the profoil,s personality. With slight brake tension it flys backward like a NPw cuped center panel and all. I met Tim/HQ-Powerkites had a blast watching people try a Beamer 3m

Mon: after a nights work of untying my 6.5 I tried flying but the beach was a little crowded so i played good kiter and packed up thats ok though I got a grate 2 hour session Tuesday :singing: I never new that kite could park at the edge of the window like that :o new pics in obx album

planing on checking out the kite jam this weekend.
looking to git my yarga rigged and flying

Ill be there saturday I believe.
