I am just wondering if anyone has used a control bar on a Revolution Kite. I have been flying the quad-line setup for a few years now, but I would like to start snow kiting. Is it possible to setup a Rev to fly on a control bar for learning purposes?

I can't tell you about Revolution kites specifically but I'm gathering that it is a fixed bridle foil? If this is the case then you will have to fly it on a bar designed for a fixed bridle (brakes to the center lines, front lines to the outside of the bar) and therefore with the exception of holding onto a bar you'll be just as well to use the handles. All but one of my land kites are on handles. That combined with a strop between the handles to hook into my harness is actually what I prefer at the moment (granted I'm new to this). You will have way more control over a fixed bridle kite on handles as opposed to a bar setup.

It would be possible to set one up to fly on a control bar but I think it would be a very complicated setup and you would lose a ton of the performance from the Rev in the process. Revolutions gain all their performance from the speed and control of the kite. You just can't get that kind of control from a bar like you can from handles.

If you were to use a bar I think you would have to use a setup like the old C-Quad bars where the bar itself was similar to a pair of bicycle handlebars. This would allow you some kind of 4 line control. With a conventional bar setup like on the surf style kites you are only controlling the two rear lines.

For learning purposes on snow your easiest and most durable option would be a 4 line trainer like the Ozone Imp Trainer or equivalent. (JMHO)
