Are these good first boards?
Hey All!
Well I am interested in getting a board for my 5m Haka to pull me around on. Currently I am looking at the MBS Core 95 and Ground Industries Prodigy
87. Of the two the Prodigy looks like a nicer board. I need some advice though. Thanks.

Does anyone own one of these boards? Maybe you can suggest a better one...

I have a Ground Industries Flight Lite 100 and I love it! It weighs 14.5 lbs and is 100 cm long. This GI board uses GI's Bionic Trucks which utilize
Torsion Cube Technology for controlling turning. My board came with a midrange T3 cube; it's rated (hardness scale) #4 and its color is yellow. The
board is pretty turn resistant i.e. I can't make wild arcs using this board. The turns tend to be stready and controlled making the board amazingly
manageable in high speed kite cruising. I am using bigger kites now so moving fast and I can hear the wheels make a "wheeeeeeeeennnn" sound. It's
pretty cool.
No speed wobble so far but if I break the sound barrier, I just might get to experience it. :D

Thanks Guys! So is there something specific I should be looking for when I buy a board? I am trying to keep my budget at $300 which limits me. I
figured with a GI board I can upgrade the trucks later.....

I also ride GI and while I haven't been on a prodigy it looks sweet, is light and, as you said, is designed to allow you to upgrade the trucks to
bionics if you want to. Additionally, GI boards, trucks, and I believe hubs are warrantied for life.
My board is older and shows no sign of rust or wear with routine maintenance. I have heard some riders comment that MBS stuff rusts - especially
after beach sessions (but they do make great decks).
Depower Quiver: 14m Gin Eskimo, 10m Gin Eskimo III, 6m Gin Yeti, 4.5m Gin Yeti (custom bridle and mixer)
Fixed Bridle Quiver: MAC Bego 400, JOJO ET Instinct 2.5 & 5.5, Lil Devil 1.5, Sting 1.2
Rides: Ground Industries

The GI Flight 93 board comes with the bionic trucks and the new Vegas hubs and the Talon II bindings all right in your price range of just a bit over
$300.00. Get it all with no need to upgrade in the future.

No wobble?? Really!? I need one of those. I hate the wobble, and it usually ends up in a bit of pain!
I hear that putting weight on the back foot gets rid of it in one thread, and then read in another that its the front foot! Maybe its just
inexperience, though. |
