I know there's people who are concerned about security and things since the news only reports bad things in Mexico. Once past the border areas, you'll feel very comfortable and safe. THe highways have roadside assistance patrols, and were smooth and in great shape. You'll go through a handful of military checkpoints, complete with machine gun embankments... but that just adds to the adventure. Not the glitzy resort areas, but friendly people and a great time to be had.

Not to mention kiteboarding and buggying opportunities.
