Kites for kids

So I've got an 8 year old and a 6 year old boy. Both are starting to show an interest in kiting. I was thinking of getting them a 1.2m sting.

I would like to start them out on a 4 line foil. I really just don't like bars but I do understand that they are easier to learn with.

Any recommendations on other kites / sizes / setups you think makes sense. Ultimately, I can see them both on landboards (or a buggy if I had a car to fit it in).

Maybe a smaller 1-2m for the 6YA and a 2-3 for the 8 year old. New tech ballistic has a 4 line foil that comes on a bar as well, and a believe in a 2.6 and a 3.6m

I got my wife a 1.7 sting, and it is a great kite. very ez and acrobatic . I think a 1.2 would be fine, just watch the higher winds cause they get really, really fast!!I have used the wifes 1.7 PUNK sting to landboard with in 25+ winds. now thats a funny site, a long haired ,goateed, crazyman doin about 30 on a board, laughing like a madman while being pulled by this little hot pink demon on a string!:lol::lol:thank god nobody got a pic:thumbup:

NPW I think those sizes are a little BIG for such small ones.My good friend that I bought a 3.0 pansh legend for x-mas , got spanked the other day by a gust , and he weighs 285 lb! Point I'm tryin to make is lightweight beginners should start with small kites until they know what to do with them( and even then, @%#$ happens) My bud couldn't beleive that little kite threw him like that, cuase "I'm so much smaller than him,it should be easy to hold onto":lol::lol: yeah right! you can't argue with a gust to infinity:o jmho

I have a ozone imp trainer you can get the 3 line trainer on a bar or the quattro on handles. Your choice. The 2m would likely be great no lift to speak of! My girlfriend has a 2 and loves it she isn't very big 100 pounds. As they get older it is AWESOME in the atomic winds! Something to look at anyway.

My kids used the 1.5 IMP Quattro, a 2.5 IMP trainer (3 line w/bar), and then the PL PepperII 3m when learning. All depending on the wind speed.

The IMP gets the crap beat out of it and it has held up pretty good. I will pretty much let anyone fly that one who wants to try power kites. We have gotten some pretty young kids flying that one too. I cannot say enough for how durable it is.

Flexifoil - Sabre2 5.0m, 9.5m / Bullet 7.0m
Ozone - Cult 4.5m / Yakuza 2.2m, 3.4m / Samurai2 3.0m / IMP 2.5m / IMP Quattro 1.5m
Peter Lynn - Pepper II 3.0m
Rides - Peter Lynn Bigfoot Buggy / Flexifoil Buggy / MBS Mountainboard
Harness - Dakine XT Seat / Ozone AccessXC D-Ring / Ozone AccessXC Spreader Bar

My son started with a 1m, 2-line Ozone Imp at age 5. He got into 4 line with handles on an Ozone LD Stunt 1.5m at age 6 at Long Beach Peninsula in WA. Was almost too quick for him, but he figured it out. This winter, at age 8, he started learning to ski behind a 2m Brooza 1. I was pleased with how fast he picked it up on that kite, and being able to reverse launch saves me a lot of running. He is pretty small and light weight.

Lots of stunt kites and a Rev Supersonic
