I took this kite to a local park. The wind speed (average) was 17 mph gusting to 26 mph. It was a hoot!!! There are couple of things that I didn't like:

1. The leading edge spar slides in either side of the kite.

2. The leading edge spar's socket became undone 3 times. I saw it jutting from the corner of the kite; I had to land the kite and snap it back in place. I have to admit that the wind at times was very high and I was mauvering the kite a great (spins, invert flight and sudden stops etc).

Revs are great! You were in quite high wind but I always have enjoyed mine.

I recently broke my REV 1.5sle out for a kite demo at an elementary school, and forgot how fun they are. My fave thing to do is bring it up to zenith, turn it 180, and send it straight at the ground and suddenly stop right above the ground and hover. The coaches and kids got a big kick out of that too :frog:

I did that a few times but, man, it took some doing pulling the brakes in all that wind.

What's the low end for that kite? 5 mph? 8mph?

Depends, I know one will fly on apparent wind alone, I've seen it flown inside a gym.

Try a vented REv in the higher winds for easier control.

Never had any come undone at the spar unless I ran into the ground. The bungee cord tight enough where it attaches to the fittings? Any cracks or weaking on the spars near the ends?

I will check the strength of the bungee cord.

Kite did hit the ground a few times -- inverted at high speed.

To lower the wind range buy 3 P200's and 2 ferrals cut the rods to the same length of the SLE and slide into place. the P200 will slide inside the end caps. and to loose some more weight change out the other 2 rods with P100's or P90's.
Great kite to fly

ive flown a rev 1.5 in as low as 1 mile an hour they also make a 2.4 blast great buggy engine and i have the 4.8 rev power blast and can buggy with that in 2 or 3 mile per hour revs are great kites they make 1/4 inch race rods for low wind thats the best way to go

What are "P200" and "ferrals"?

Ferrals are like connectors, if you have ever looked at a PL ARC spar, they are the little metal tubes that the spar goes into, so it can be long, but break down to like 2 feet. :alien:

get yourself a b-series rev, they are so smooth compared to the earlier revs. Check out some iquad vids on utube........aj

The 1.5 SLE is really designed to be flown from 5 mph to 18 mph. Over that and it gets pretty difficult to control and can really put some serious stress on your sail. For stronger winds you really should get the vented version. The Vented can fly in winds from about 9-10 mph to 30 mph. The Vented is also super sweet in gusty conditions. It just smooths out the wind like butter. In 15 mph you can do nearly everything with the kite and have very little pull.

If you want to lighten up the kite, don't bother with all the hassles of the P-series rods and ferrule's, just get yourself another frame set. Look at the 1.5 SUL rods or even the new Rev Race Rod Frame. We have them all in stock. Here's a page that tells a bit more about the different rods. The 1.5 is an awesome kite because you have so many different options you can add to it.

have you tried the Race rods in the in the SLE sail?

No ,I haven't ,but I know they got all kinds of rods and sail variations. It's an amazing kite. I'd like to have a stack like the guy in the vids I posted here somewhere.:puzzled: Looked like green flames on black,really sweet!

The Power Blast series is awesome in the buggy. Very fast, incredible (unbelievable) upwind, amazing control. The 2-4 is a 2m kite that has the power of a 4m foil. And they aren't kidding. The flat framed skin is very similar to the power of the C-Quads. Much more efficient than the foil design.

If you get a chance to fly a Rev don't pass it up. Awesomely fun kites for sure!

I fly with all types of rods for my 1.5's & B-series including the Race Rods. For solo flying I still like the SLE rod because of the snappy response and instant drive but for team flying and precision, the Race Rods are the ticket.

We also just got in Race rods for the Rev II and the Rev 1, my wife snatched the first set right out of the box for her personal Rev 1. Gotta keep the wife happy for sure! lol Oh, and they have changed the Rev II leading edge to a 3 piece now, just like the other kites. This thing folds down so that it will fit inside a suit case. Really awesome.

Bout two years ago, Joe Hadzicki and myself were the last ones on the lake bed at NABX with our Powerblast 4-8's, nothing else would get up in the air and we were buggying well into the night. Was an awesome time for sure.

Awesome kites for sure....if you haven't flown a Rev your missing out!
